to list a few: FWB 2700 Walther kk300 Anschutz 20** There is no clear best rifle, that's why there is such a preponderance of options. My suggestion is to go to a large store or match where you can check out a number of them and see what feels best. I think this post answers the question. There was...

There are two dedicated air rifle ranges that I am aware of in the L.A. area. They are both excellent 10m ranges but have some drawbacks. The Phoenix Club in Anaheim has a wonderful indoor range. They will allow you to shoot there as a guest several times after which, they will require that you beco...

Re: Torque, harmonics and ritual

Let's start with optimizing group size by adjusting the king screw torques. The torque applied alters the compression of the interface between action and stock (it also distorts both). This alters the mechanical coupling between the two, and thereby how energy (vibrational) passes between barrel/ac...

CJ or any member of the Phoenix shooting club, Few of us would like to see ONE reply posted here or in your Phoenix shooting club website. This way, we know your club policy is consistent, and NOT different for each individual that wants to join. I know you are a private club, thus you can even pos...

Re: Ranges in Los Angeles

Los Angeles Rifle and Revolver Club range is very nice. They just had their 100 year anniversary. They are located in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, in Whittier. They have a 100 yard smallbore range, with matches every Sunday. They are primarily smallbore prone, but I understand they are hav...

Re: FWB 2700?

Has anyone had any experience with the new Feinwerkbau 2700 .22? I'm going to buy a new smallbore rifle and the FWB seems like a good alternative to the Anschutz (comes with sights) if it shoots decently. Also, any advice on which smallbore to buy would be nice. It will mostly be for 3p but maybe s...

"If we Americans are into precision style shooting and have interest in 10-meter airguns, there would be airgun clubs all over U.S. of A., but this is not the case. " I don't agree. There are a whole bunch of people that are into precision shooting and are interested in AR, but are not mot...

Re: I like to reply to j. Edwards

I like to reply to j. Edwards You said “Others from that group only shot AR on week nights because the opportunity was there…”. There is no opportunity to shoot there, unless you join that German American (Nazi) shooting club, and I will give you one guess as to who they will let in. There was an A...

Re: Sad Sad no more AR S. cali

Im so sad no more AR match in S. cali, where are the 10m AR shooters in S. cali? This is just my opinion: Some of the AR shooters that were attending the Phoenix Club PTO's have left for college, Chris Abalo and Stacey Underwood, most conspicuously. Others from that group only shot AR on week night...

Try this

This range will have been in operation for 100 years in July. It's the best smallbore range around by a wide margin. There are matches almost every week.

To my knowledge there are no dedicated retail outlets that stock rifles, clothing, ammunition or accessories for international smallbore or air rifle in the Los Angeles area, other than FWB air rifles. If you want a dedicated shooting sweater, made specifically to be used under a shooting jacket, yo...

I have the Mouche Body Cool sweater. Like someone said awhile back, "it's not air conditioning, but it sure makes a difference." Critical areas of the inside are lined with lycra-type materials, which really serves to cool you off in hot weather. I wear Under Armour under it in colder weat...

My 2602 is a short barrel. I love this rifle and have no intention of replacing it. Arguably, the most accurate rifles in the world are benchrest rifles that tend to have short (20") thick barrels. Theoretically, barrel whip and harmonics are reduced producing a more accurate rifle. Practical a...

I had a similar problem with my 2602. When I first owned it, I subscribed to the old school theory that cleaning .22's only wears out the barrel. What I didn't know was that the carbon-like deposits on the muzzle face are hydrophilic (water loving) and promote corrosion on the non blued surface of t...

I know someone out there has a more precise answer than this, but here goes: Most ammunition components, including airgun pellets, are produced in "lots". All the pellets produced in a given lot have a unique lot number stamped somewhere on the tin. I'm not exactly sure how many tins are i...

Kurt Thune Jacket - Button hole

I just got a new Expert Shooting Jacket. I had a TL-2 before. On the Expert there is an extra button hole between the top two regular button holes. It doesn't have the colored trim. It is just a plain slit with no trim.
What is this button hole for? BTW, I know button holes are for buttons :-)

[ I think some lots of EPS are hurt accuracy wise by the ding marks on the flat point's edges. Some of 'em are pretty big. These dents or dings from the Eley production lines can't help but change their aerodynamic properties a bit. And a bit is all that's needed to make 'em strike a bit further fr...
