Re: Suggestions for a postal match structure?

Hopefully not too late to reply to this but ... There was an NRA air pistol postal league that sent 36 numbered targets (for a 180 shot series) that were physically returned to the league, scored and submitted to the NRA. It ran on a semi-annual basis (two leagues per year) for six years. Another NR...

Re: Spokane shooting

The Spokane Rifle Club has an indoor range with open shooting from November through March and a winter bullseye league with record targets available around early December. There's a top notch 50' indoor range and a 25 yard outdoor pistol range (plus 50, 100 and 200 rifle + trap), but unfortunately b...

Re: Tokyo 2020: ISSF Ad-Hoc Committee releases Shooting prog

So, let me get this straight. The 2020 Olympic pistol events will be: Mens AP (60 shot) Womens AP (40 shot) Mixed team AP Womens sport pistol Mens rapid fire pistol Will the mixed team AP be one man, one woman (as I understand is the case with the new mixed team rifle event)? Will it be 40 shots or ...

Re: Going to Have an Air Pistol Match for Adults in Wisconsi

Not including mention of the targets being used in the match bulletin works, unless a competitor innocently mentions it to the NRA. Then you get the official letter and you run the risk of having the results nullified for purposes of establishing a classification. (My league results weren't nullifie...

Re: Going to Have an Air Pistol Match for Adults in Wisconsi

Thanks for the information. I was unaware that Kruger offered targets with the NRA approved stamp. I used Edelman's and received a letter from the NRA in response. I looked at the Kruger's but I didn't see and NRA approved stamp on them (when viewed on an internet vendors website at least). Is what ...

Re: Going to Have an Air Pistol Match for Adults in Wisconsi

I don't know if you're thinking of running sanctioned matches, or who the sanctioning organizations is. If you're sanctioning through the NRA they'll be rather insistent upon B40 targets with the appropriate NRA approval logo on them (as I know from experience). Everyone is right about them being lo...

Re: Suction Cup Iris for Glasses?

A word of advice from another cross-dominant (right handed / left eyed) pistol competitor: if you go with shooting glasses consider using the smaller rifle lens rather than the large pistol lens. You'll be looking across the bridge of your nose (especially if you shoot with a closed stance, like I d...

Re: Which Official Target for 15Y indoor range?

Yes, the San Diego Police Pistol Range is an outdoor range. I should have mentioned that. I left San Diego many years ago, but it was by far my favorite place to shoot bullseye. Unfortunately they don't have matches anymore, but as you read in other posts there are other clubs where you can go for m...

Re: Effect of Air Pistol Barrel Length on Intrinsic Accuracy

The question of barrel length on "intrinsic accuracy" (what I would call "mechanical accuracy") is, as has been suggested, infinitesimal. Pistols capable of shooting groups that amount to a single slightly fuzzy hole regardless of barrel length aren't fertile grounds for improvem...

Re: Which Official Target for 15Y indoor range?

You may also want to consider practicing at the San Diego Police Pistol Range (Federal Blvd near 805). It's open to civilians and is a very pleasant range complete with a tunnel so that you can change targets without calling a cease fire. The civilian portion of the range is 25 yards only. I believe...

San Diego air pistol venues

I've run across several posts asking for information for air pistol events in San Diego. Though I escaped California long ago, I do occasionally check-in on some of my old haunts and found two potential venues that might be worth investigating if there's anyone still interested in getting an air pis...

Re: Cross eye dominance

I am right handed and strongly left eye dominant bullseye shooter. On top of that I have a very closed stance. The stance is very stable for me but forces me to crank my head very hard to the right to shoot. This also forced me to look through the very inside portion of my eyeglasses (and Vargas sho...

Yes, it was Don Williams that I was thinking of. If I could still see open sights I'd sign up for the league myself.

Good shooting.

Re: How to find matches

You may want to see if the Portland Rifle and Pistol Club has air pistol matches (https://portlandrifleandpistol.wordpress.com/). It's right around the corner. In the Seattle metro area (150 to 200 miles north of you, less than 6 hours even with nasty Seattle traffic) you would want to check in with...

San Diego AP

I left San Diego 20 years ago for friendlier environments, but the San Diego Police Pistol Range used to have AP shooting inside one of their buildings for at least a few years after I left. Probably a non-starter now, especially given that it's controlled by the City government, but you might check...
