Trigger travel past break point?

I noticed in the book Air Rifle Shooting on the subject of the trigger that the authors state, "The trigger should move freely, beyond the break point. 'Trigger-stops' should not be found on a rifle!" No further elaboration is given, but I'm curious as to why one would want over-travel on ...

Re: Beginner looking for advice

mrhankuk, where are you in Utah. I'm getting started as well; we should compare notes.

Re: keep the Ruger? or...?

deadeyedick, very well said and I completely agree. There are all sorts of reasons to upgrade equipment that go well beyond "buying points." How about motivation? Rover, I appreciate your opinion and experience—and I've read it in more than one post; you clearly have a wealth of knowledge,...

Is the 1.4m to the 10 ring or bottom of the trap?

10m AR: Movement of heartbeat in sight picture?

I'm rather new to the 10m AR game, but something really strange happened during my practice session yesterday: I could see my heartbeat in my sight picture. In other words, my sights moved up and down with each heart beat. I've never noticed this phenomenon before, even for the short time I raced in...

Re: HELP! Anschutz adj. iris lock ring stuck on Altius exten

Thanks, Andre. I was able to get it with the help of some painters tape and a bench vise (and some finesse).

HELP! Anschutz adj. iris lock ring stuck on Altius extension

Hi, all. I have an Anschutz 9775 adjustable iris stuck on an iris extension somehow. Which direction does the lock ring thread on? Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey? The manual is not exactly clear on the subject and it's been years since I installed it and I cannot remember. Just got the 8002 S2 in black...

Re: How do the FWB 800 Universal and Anschutz 8002 S2 compar

jhmartin, I'm sure that's true. Now all I need is an explanation to my wife for this purchase. The biathlon rifle a few years ago was easy: "Consider it fitness equipment; it's going to keep me in shape!" This one, not so much :)

Re: How do the FWB 800 Universal and Anschutz 8002 S2 compar

COBelties, thanks for that reply. I should have noted that I was comparing the 8002 S2 in the black, soft-grip wood stock and the FWB 800 Universal in wood. To compare wood to aluminum would not be fair. The aluminum-stocked models are certainly nice, but I think I'd prefer the wood variety (even if...

Re: How do the FWB 800 Universal and Anschutz 8002 S2 compar

Thanks, jhmartin. After picking the brain of someone at Pyramid who has handled both, I opted for the Anschutz. I don't think I'd be disappointed either way, as you indicated. Now, it's a waiting game.

How do the FWB 800 Universal and Anschutz 8002 S2 compare?

Prices are about the same. Specs, likewise, appear to be very similar. I'm a casual, local competitor and recreational shooter. Which rifle has an edge and why? Number of good shots per fill, sight quality, etc. are interesting things I'd like to know.

Once you have the shooting fundamentals down, dryfire, dryfire and dryfire some more (at appropriately scaled targets, of course. Some good drills and targets can be found here:

I'll field a couple of those questions as well: The only two commercially available biathlon rifles are the Izhmash Biathlon 7-3 and 7-4 and the Anschutz Fortner. That said, the only REAL requirements are that the rifle be .22 lr caliber, have no optical sights, be mechanically operated (no semi-aut...
