RE: Matchguns MG2 Update

I have found that Winchester T-22 does work well if the bullet is on the case straight (not always true), CCI Green Tag, CCI Standard, Lapua, Eley Tenex, Aquila Match and PMC Target all have worked well so far. I have the MG2RF version with a mechanical trigger and have sent it back to the factory f...

RE: .22

I have had my Walther GSP Expert since it came on the market. I have shot the .32 and .22 in matches and I have an old style trigger which I prefer. I did have a conventional .32 upper before upgrading. The recoil buffer design works well and it is utterly reliable. I love the fact that it is modula...

RE: Free Pistol for Returning Shooter

I actually like my MG-5 mechanical trigger better than the Morini 84 or the Toz 35 (which I have). I believe different free pistols suit different people's shooting styles and physical characteristics. I prefer personally to have a very light free pistol with a mechanical trigger. I like the MG-5 be...

RE: MG2 RF

jliston48 it was indeed warranty work and the FFL who sent it in for the warranty work was shocked that I was charged anything since it was clearly a bad part in the trigger mechanism which failed after only 100 rounds. The gun was bought brand new back in 1991 if I remember correctly. The entire tr...

RE: UK Pistol Team

Dave as you know we had a really good team at UTD with no funding, no equipment except our own and I had to run the entire program as a student. We did exceptionally well under those circumstances but the bottom line is that someone at the school has to be the champion for such a program. In 1994 wh...

RE: Range Report MG2RF

A little off the subject but someone asked me about the MG5. I do have the mechanical trigger variant. I also still have my Morini CM80 SuperComp and a Toz 35. The MG5 trigger for me is vastly superior in how it feels and how it adjusts compared to the Toz. The Toz is also heavy as a boat anchor com...

RE: Matchguns MG2 RF Range Report

I understand that there are a contingent of shooters that have had issues with the MG2. However, the product appears to have evolved over the years and has improved over time. The big problem with Matchguns is not having a repair/warranty site in the United States. I made the decision to stick with ...

RE: Matchguns MG2 RF Range Report

I would be surprised if they even sold a couple of hundred at this point in time. Now that I have mine back it works extremely well with good ammunition. It is a little hard for me to fault the gun when T-22 ammo has bullets that are not set properly in the brass case at times which would cause anyt...

RE: Matchguns MG2RF

I wasn't happy about it, but at the same time I had a Walther GSP Expert that works extremely well which I still use for Center Fire. I am in the United States and recently Germany apparently passed a law where everything had to be air freighted out of Germany when any type of firearm was exported w...

RE: MG2 RF Range Report

I just got my MG2 Rapid Fire back from Europe after the gun was there for almost 2 years for warranty repair work. I am not sure how much time it took for Matchguns to fix it versus the time it took to get from the U.S. to Germany (Gehmann) to Italy (Matchguns) and back. This part of getting the gun...

RE: American Made Free Pistol

I think I can shed some light on the Beeman product. I actually used to own one of those pistols which was called a Rhoner and if I remember correctly was imported by Beeman from Germany. I actually bought mine used from a person that owned it that was on Texas Tech's (now defunct) pistol team. The ...

FWB Parts in the US

Neal Stepp at ISS in Fort Worth has pretty much everything for FWB. I get most of my parts from him directly.

RE: Matchguns 5

Jack,

I think a couple of hundred rounds would be the minimum I would feel comfortable with to make sure it is reliable.

I would love to take you up on your offer but I have to work on Wednesday.

I will send you an email so that we might be able to set something up at a later date.

Thanks!

Nick

RE: Matchguns 5

Mainly because I have had a similar problem before after only firing one match and I wiped it down and the problem stopped temporarily. I have never touched the adjustments for the trigger before since they were set by the factory. At least on my MG-5 the pattern seems to occur after 120 rounds. I a...

RE: Matchguns 5

I took the MG-5 apart and blew out the trigger mechanism and arming lever area out with a can of compressed air to get anything foreign out of the trigger group area. I then increased the weight on the trigger slightly and put a little more travel into the trigger stop to see if that would fix the i...

RE: Matchguns 5

Thanks Jack. I am not having any resistance when closing it but it is going off both when I close the bolt and on occasion when the trigger is armed. That is why I was thinking it was an adjustment that needed to be made. I will find out this weekend when I have time to disassemble it and clean it u...

RE: Matchguns 5

Thanks Ernie. I have not shot too many rounds out of it. I think I probably have about 500 rounds fired through it since I bought it. I love the way the trigger feel and how the gun shoots, but that is a little disconcerting when the gun goes off without even touching trigger or when the breech is c...

RE: Matchguns 5

I was wondering if anyone was having their MG-5 discharge when they closed the breechlock or after arming the trigger. I have been having some problems with this and I was wondering if this might be a trigger adjustment issue or if it is something more serious. If anyone has a solution to this I wou...
