Re: Rocky Mountain Rifle Championship Feb. 2015
I would encourage you to compete in one of the monthly matches (PTO) just to get a feel for the range, format etc. we typically shoot air rifle in the morning and smallbore in the afternoon. Also if your interested in observing, the U.S. Smallbore selection match is the first week in January, I thin...

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips
There's the Anschutz/Walther/FWB (much akin to Ford/Chevy/Dodge) fanaticism for you. They all make fine rifles for what your trying to achieve. An alternate option if your thinking weight reduction is to buy a stainless steel Lilja barrel in a shorter length fit to the action and stock of your choice.

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips
Theres lots of good information and discussion from the past on this site for that same question for discovery in the search, also perhaps moving the post to the youth coaching forum we may get some of the other youth coaches to weigh in. It would help to know the level (and remember people here are...

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips
I've had a similar conversation with others lately and I get the logic - shoot a similar stock/gun in air rifle and smallbore to mimic consistency. However, in my limited experience I prefer my junior shooters to use what is comfortable to them since smallbore 3P and air rifle both have their separa...

Re: Undergarmets
Understood but that is generalization and assumptive. Where is it defined? I would say that I have a junior shooter that practices everyday with her jeans on under her shooting pants (shes shy and doesnt like dressing in front of others) and that it is part of her training clothes since she trains t...

Undergarmets
Can jeans be worn under trousers legally in USA Shooting rules? I'm looking at: 7.5.7 Underclothing 7.5.7.1 Clothing worn under the shooting jacket must not be thicker than 2.5mm single thickness or 5mm double thickness. The same applies to all clothing worn under the trousers. 7.5.7.2 Only normal p...

Re: How to buy a Bleiker in the US
If you want to purchase a Bleiker, that is certainly your choice. I think Long Rifles could build a very good custom target rifle to you specifications for a lot less than $9000 that will perform just as good as a Bleiker. Matter of perspective on what the expected performance outcome is I suppose?...

David,
Neal has some on order and he's about 6 months out. Lots of pieces to consider so PM me and I might be able to help you navigate a few of the questions he'll ask.

Re: Pan Am Games rifle selection
Was reading it this morning and had a similar thought. The only thing I can put my finger on is that the Pan Am games are in June, so thinking of possible selection, Air Rifle could have been Nationals at Ft. Benning and WAG? Smallbore could have been Nationals and January's smallbore selection? Sti...

Bleiker Challenger Metallic Weight?
I can't seem to find good information on this from Bleiker. Does anyone know what a base setup weight is for the Bleiker Challenger Metallic? I'm guessing 6kg-7kg since the lady is 5-6.5kg with the 22mm barrel.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Back problems for hardcore 3P smallbore & air rifle shoo
It would be interesting to see some long term study but it seems that there is more than just coincidental tendency in not small bore but small/air involving offhand. Which if you think about it, long hours of training in standing leads to compression of the lower back which can develop long term ef...

Psychology and the ever increasing perfectionist rambling
Up front and honest, this is just an extension of a discussion I had and am interested in everyone's input, I most likely will ramble and stray in and out of topic. The discussion started as good youth coaches we drill into our athletes that score is irrelevant, compete with your self, and some days...
