Re: Steyr Air Pistol Maintenance and Repair
If the pressure spring is pushing the cocking lever back up, it is definitely a worn bolt roller. You may (probably) need to replace the cocking lever as well. (Steyr recommend it.) The 2 parts have worn so as not to keep the lever down in the closed position. Adjusting the barrel won't help. The 'o...

Re: Steyr Air Pistol Maintenance and Repair
I think it might be a worn Bolt Roller.
That is a bit more involved than just replacing o-rings.
Depending on the gun, you may have to 'crush' the old roller in order to break it to get it off.
It is in the Steyr videos as mentioned before.
Thanks Bruce

Air Pistol will teach you how to shoot (Sights, Trigger, Follow through), Rapid Fire is just doing it a lot faster......

Re: Megalink or Sius?
We have SUIS in my former club, Brisbane, Australia. Well made targets but the software is not very user friendly. (Maybe it is the German to English translations.) Seems to have a mind of its own at times, especially if you need to sort out malfunctions or reload or change a competitor list if some...

Re: Tokyo 2020: ISSF Ad-Hoc Committee releases Shooting prog
Maybe the idea is to get all shooting into a format that can use a left over basketball stadium and they can fill in 10 minutes between skateboarding finals or do something for the crowd to watch while the judges deliberate on the final scores of the mixed flower arranging.

Tokyo 2020: ISSF Ad-Hoc Committee releases Shooting program
Just released on the ISSF web site. http://www.issf-sports.org/news.ashx?newsid=2713 After concluding an exhaustive evaluation process, the ISSF Ad-Hoc Committee recommends replacing the Double Trap Men event with a Trap Mixed Gender Team event, the 50m Rifle Prone Men event with a 10m Air Rifle Mix...

We just had a comp in Sydney with the Safety Flags - seemed to work quite well. Some shooters had a little trouble if the 'flag' (whipper snipper cord) was too bent when it got stuck at the end of the muzzle if the pistol had a muzzle break or porting. But, with a little twist of the cord - most of ...

We ran a new final back in Nov, and did it starting with 3 shots on a single paper target in 150 sec. (560 to 570 level shooters) We scored the targets thru a Rika scoring machine - no problems. The Rika gave a decimal total of all 3 shots (ie 28.7 or 30.2 etc). The Rika had no problems with multipl...

Not so sure how good the research is with the competitor list - one of the Australians listed is not even competing in London (Quick) and another Aussie (Repacholi) only shoots 50m and Air. I would not be putting any money on either of those two for Rapid Fire! (Mind you, the guy who is not even the...

50m Pistol for Women at Glasgow 2014
I have found a reference to 50m Pistol for Women listed in the programme of events for Glasgow 2014. Anybody else heard of this new event for the Commonwealth Games in 2014 ? Not sure if it is a typo but I believe that the Australian Coach is making plans to buy a couple of 50m pistols for the women...

Maybe the ISSF should drop the qualification score out of all Finals? Why should Air, 50m, Sport, 3P Rifle, Trap etc be different ? Anyway, we are getting away from the intent of the original post. Has anyone else run a RF Final on paper ? Would love to hear any other ideas. Thanks Bruce F PS. for t...

Yes, I am sure the format will change again. One of the main reasons the format was changed because there were no medalists in the last half of the 2008 Olympic Final (2 lots of 3 shooters) We had the situation in Bris where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were decided in the sixth series, as there was that much ...

We did not have any late shots, but it would have been a deduction as per the rules. (Backing targets would indicate if it was a totally missed target or just a late shot but we did not worry about that for our 'non final'.) We has 1 'caller' (person who called Hit/Miss) and 1 patcher per range. (to...

Hit/Miss Rapid Fire final on paper targets.
At the recent Australia Cup held in Brisbane, the peak organising body canceled plans to host a Final for the Rapid Fire event; claiming were too many issues to overcome shooting the Final on paper targets.(ie No ISSF rules for RF Finals on paper targets.) The shooters only found out about this the ...

David L : Are you still getting that difference in feel with .22LR Bruce? Hi David, I should have mentioned that this was with 22LR ammo. (SK Pistol mainly but also some RWS) With the little bit of oil. I guess the oil helps 'smooth out' any variation in feel to the ammo if the action of the pistol...

I have found that in cold weather, if I have a little bit of oil on the ammo, it make for a more reliable 'feel' to the shots. I use an old air pellet tin with a piece of felt on the bottom that I have sprayed with Inox or WD40 or similar. (a 2 second spray from a can of Inox into the pad is ample) ...
