Re: calling Igor

Glad to hear that you have finished your required service. I did that too, but it was many years ago. I will email you at the address on your blog. No hurry on a response. We redid a bathroom a few months ago and the kitchen before it. It never seems to go as planned. I am not familiar with procedur...

calling Igor

Has anyone been in contact with Igor? His blog has not been updated for many months. I tried to email him at an old address that I had, but got no reply. Does someone have a current contact method for him.

Barrel Vent Leading

The other day I was reading a condemnation of compensators for lead build up. I seem to remember that the rapid fire pistols (in the 22 short era) had vent holes in the top of the barrel. I also don't remember seeing a lot of discussion about the vents clogging up with lead. Did I just miss the lead...

Re: Toz-35 barrel

My Toz is one of those junk guns that Russia dumped into the US a while back. It shoots better than I can, but the crown is not perfect and the exterior is horribly pitted over the fore end. It is way more than I want to try to polish out. I am considering a number of options: I can buy a replacemen...

Toz-35 barrel

Does someone have the shank and thread specs for this free pistol. I think having the tooling ready before I try to turn this barrel off would be handy.

Does someone have a cross section view of the trigger linkage? Maybe something from a manual? I have always wondered about how how the striker and trigger linkage worked with the trigger behind the block.

Re: Free Pistol Sights

I only have the front post and rear blade that came with the pistol. I removed the front post today to take measurements of the lower portion for the shop drawing. There are suspicious marks on both sides that look like someone clamped a pair of vice-grip pliers onto it in the past. I wanted a sligh...

Re: Free Pistol Sights

No, you confuse me with someone (I am not Dennis, btw). I don't have a paper copy, but the Russian text is available online. I am quite sure the book has not been updated. In the Soviet times you could make a pretty good living shooting pistols at a top level, and also by doing things related to sp...

Re: Free Pistol Sights

Thanks Dennis. I knew about the comma thing, but for some reason I got fixated on the idea that those numbers had something to do with rear sight width. My replacement Toz didn't come with any of the sight package. I am going to have to machine a set. It would be interesting to know if there was any...

Free Pistol Sights

I am getting back into shooting, so I've been re-reading my copy of 'Competitive Shooting'. Yur' Yev recommends a 50m front sight between 3.2 and 3.6mm. On the next page (192) he gives some sight combinations of some record setting performances. The free pistol combinations are stated as 4,3 3,0 3,5...

Re: WC Pistol setting bad examples

I wasn't going to participate in this thread, but geez. Someone going forward with shooters still on the line? Taking a picture of the winner with an open breach pistol in a controlled setting is one thing. Darned near all of us dry fire at home with pistols pointed in 'unsafe' directions. And peopl...

Re: 50 metre... where do you go?

I am just curious has to how do you go about training for the 50 metre free pistol? I don't know if I want to get into it but would like to know more about it But I don't think there is a shooting range(indoor)around where I live Is it mostly outdoor? If I do find a place can I try it with my Benel...

Re: Front sight

Isn't seeing the gun relative to the target when the shot occurs the sight picture? To me seeing the sight picture doesn't mean focus isn't on the front post with proper sight alignment. You can have perfect sight alignment but you should also have an acceptable sight picture. Not calling a shot is...

Re: Front sight

Putting something attention getting on the front sight is a training crutch. If you really do look at the line and not at the target, through enough repetitions, your brain will start looking for the front sight when the gun comes up, rather than the target. Your brain will eventually get bored with...

Re: NRA Free Pistol Postal League....

Since you posted this in an international forum, I imagine that you are not limiting this to local entries?

It would help if we knew where to send the entry fee. I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000 miles to your East. Picking up a target packet at the range would be a stretch.

NASSA and Arnie

I have been working on inletting a couple of blocks of wood so my Toz will have grips. It's a painful process and I'd much rather be shooting. So I got to thinking about the Vitarbo grip I had on my old Toz and wondered if he was still at it. I knew he used to coach for the NASSA and figured I try t...

Re: Some help for an old Toz shooter

I am in Citrus. The Hernando Sportsman Club is about 50 miles away via secondary and county roads. Way to far to shoot often enough. I shot their match. I think there was 4 shooters. Way different than WCW in Washington state where we would put 2 to 3 times that many on the line for outdoor night fr...

Some help for an old Toz shooter

Its been a while since I've been active on this forum. I moved to Arkansas when I retired 5 years ago. There was supposed to be a range with competitive shooting just outside of town, but by the time we had moved they went out of business. So no competition within a 2 hours drive and the closest ran...
