Re: Looking for 3p .22

Thank you to everyone for the insight! Two of the biggest concerns we will have: 1) being able to quickly get any parts inside the US; 2) the length of pull. I know most have adjustable buttstocks, but the Anschutz she has been shooting doesn’t allow for the adjustment that she needs (length of pul...

Re: Options for 3p .22

If Keppeler or Tanner offered any meaningful advantage, the firing line at international events would be full of them. They're not. ... Suggesting a rare, vintage, hard-to-find-parts-for rifle is exactly the opposite of what they need. I'm told there were only a handful of Keppeler-built 50m rifles...

Re: Looking for 3p .22

Again, your suggestions are valid for an established shooter wanting something interesting, but are questionable choices for a beginner, one who may need to upgrade in size, and might not stay in the sport for a lifetime. The OP might be better served with a less recherche rifle that's an appropriat...

Rifles: Top quality, very likely to be accurate without prior selection: Keppeler, Tanner, Bleiker, Gruenig & Elmiger. ... Keppeler stock systems are the best. Price-benefit ratio: Don't overlook the Walther BV at current prices. Hmm, are Kepeller smallbores common in your part of the world? Th...

Re: Question about tuners on air rifles

As I understand things, a tuner affects barrel vibration compensating for variations in muzzle velocity. Given a 10m air rifle likely has a very efficient regulator, is there enough MV variation for a tuner to do anything?

Re: Adjustable Cheek Riser Slide

Ah, that makes more sense. Still, I would wonder if the expense is worth it on a 61-62 yo* rifle A 1413 from this era is a big chunky gun, not ideal for many women (and smaller men), and spare parts are unobtanium. If you are prepared to spend a fair bit of cash, why just the cheekpiece? That barrel...

Walther used a nominally 16mm foresight for many years. I think FWB did too until the early '90s.

Do you mean something like this?https://www.edinkillie.co.uk/anschutz/anschutz-cheekpiece-for-19182018-stock-p-835.html?s2ssid=4576c8ca7d7e918189318b9855a8f2ad This is from an Anschutz Precise stock. Walther and Grunig both make something similar. Here in the UK a 1403 would cost less than a 1918 ch...

Re: Butt plate for Walther KK300 alu

Just a thought, but have you tightened the bolts holding the MEC butt to the rods recently. I use a System Gemini stock, which has a very similar attachment method (2 X 12mm rods held by M5 socket head bolts). The bolts can work loose, especially if not well tightened.

Re: Butt plate for Walther KK300 alu

Martin, Do you mean the connection between the MEC butt and the extension rods moves, or the rods move in the stock? I've not tried this, but I'm fairly sure you'll have to use the Walther extension rods. Bleiker use a cartridge/ratchet extension, so you can't swap thus onto the Walther (not without...

Re: Smallbore Prone stocks

Is that the case is the US? Here in the UK, prone stocks are around, but xx13 models dominate. For the OP, the 1911 (and the identical 1811, and almost identical later 1411) offer a parallel fore-end very similar to a 1913 (but very square in profile). The cheekpiece is adjustable by a thumbscrew, a...

Re: Smallbore Prone stocks

Don, I'm afraid I can't help with finding a stock, unless you're in the UK. That said, are you fixed on the 1913/1918 Precise, or do you want to upgrade your 1907 and just mentioned some if the factory options? I ask that because there are many non-Anschutz alternatives. Although Anschutz no longer ...

Re: Smallbore Prone stocks

Don, There are two, possibly four, major differences between a 1907 and a 1918 or 1913. There are: 1) Fore-end depth - your 1907 has a wedge-shaped fore-end, depending on how far out your sling arm reaches the barrel will sit high to really high. Moving the handstop will change the height of the sig...

Re: Anschutz 1427 Biathlon restoration

Beorn, It's a perfectly understandable mistake. The slot through the front of 1600 bolts was unique to that Match 54 variant; 14xx and early 18xx bolts are actually externally very similar, if not actually identical, in front of the handle. The "ring" at the front of your bolt is the retai...

Re: Anschutz 1427 Biathlon restoration

The bolt is actually a 1400, possibly a sporter version as it has the longer externally-sprung claws; single shot match bolts have short internally-sprung claws. Note the safety catch built into the bolt end cap, a feature of Match 54 bolts since 1954; an 1800 bolt would have a conical screw-on end ...

Re: Is this a Walther KK200?

Alan,

Walther changed to a more safely grip around 1998; Chris Fordham, then owner of Bedford Target Suplies and author of the Brookwood colum in Target Gun/Shooter, reviewed the early machined KK200 (as in Steve's original post) in the February '98 edition, but the newer cast/MIM type in June '98.

Re: risers

The elevation differential is pretty small in my experience. Unless your rearsight is near the top of its elevation travel, it should be fine. When I have added pairs of extra blocks in the past my zero was largely unaffected. Sight changes for distance used to be very simple: about 6moa between 50 ...
