Re: Upta Tuner weight

Thank you, that's exactly what I needed. I've been offered a used Uptatuner and wanted to compare the weight to my current tube.

Re: Upta Tuner weight

Thank you, I had seen that on Eric's website. However, I want to know the weight of the tube + tuner without the collar and alignment ring, rather than the whole shebang.

Upta Tuner weight

Evening all,

Can anyone with an Uptatuner tell me how much the tube + tuner weight weighs? I don't need the weight of the collar that clamps onto the barrel.

Thanks

Tim

Re: Air Rifle Tuner

Tuners adjust the barrel harmonics. So while an air rifle has much less/lower excitation force(s) than a 22 rimfire, there are some. Is an air rifle tuner worth it? Maybe, maybe not. But if manipulating barrel harmonics is about minimising the effect of velocity variation, why tune when velocity is...

Re: Air Rifle Tuner

.22 shooter here, so I have to ask are tuners needed on 10M air rifles? While there is disagreement on how .22 tuners work, everyone seems to accept tuners are there due to velocity variation both within a batch of ammo, and between batches. 10M air rifles don't suffer in this way; the propulsion is...

Re: FWB 800 front sights

FWB issue their own foresight tunnel, in M22 size; if it's not made in-house it's not branded like Anschutz and Walther fitting a Centra Score.

Gehmann and Centra both offer tunnels with an FWB-fit dovetail. I believw the front dovetail is not the same as the 11mm one Anschutz have used since 1987.

Re: Spotting scope

Jay, I have friends with Kowas, and haven't heard a bad word about the brand. However, I already have a good, if more humble, 'scope that has served me well for many years. Only once was it defeated by very heavy mirage at Bisley. With young children, and having replaced my jacket last year £1,500+ ...

Re: Spotting scope

Tim, a “pence” for your real thoughts on what happened to this thread. I was following the original discussion, even though a Kowa is not in the cards for some time. I freely admit to being a pedant, but even so I didn't see the penny argument coming. I apologise for this, but pence is plural. I di...

Re: Feinwerkbau 2000 Value

I'm afraid I can't help with the value. I'm in the UK, and our second hand market is very different to the US. I saw the photos on RFC. Unless the Blue Book lists the 2000 Standard, I'd look at selling prices for contemporary Anschutz 54 standards (1407 or 1807), and adjust a bit. Don't compare pric...

Re: Feinwerkbau 2000 Value

Feinwerkbau is a trade name for Westinger & Altenburger of Oberndorf. The company is best known for their 10m target air rifles. The 2000 Standard rifle was their first smallbore, beginning around 1980. I've heard rumours Walther Gehmann was involved in the design, but this may be just a rumour....

Re: Dry fire device in 22 LR

The 54 action has dry fire pins you can buy and the 1827 has a "donut", but I could not find a unit made for the 64 actions. The 64 has a very different firing pin set up; from memory it's a developed Flobert action, where the 54 is a scaled down Mauser. Where the 54 has the firing pin re...

Re: Unknown Anschutz model

Yes, older 54s can shoot very well, and there is a school of thought that barrel quality/steel was better back in the day. I'm not sure a trigger replacement is always necessary though. I like the 5018, but the old 1407-U9 two stage is not bad. The 5018 can be refined more, but conversely there are ...

Re: Unknown Anschutz model

I agree with The above post regarding the 5018 trigger. What was not noted is that Anschutz did produce a trigger very similar to the 5018 the would work on the older rifle. It was the 5071 trigger. The only difference was the catch link (referred to as sear/bent interface above). The above post is...

Re: Unknown Anschutz model

Slight thread hijack, but do you know if a late model 2 stage trigger (5018 for instance) can be used on these early 54 rifles? No, I'm afraid the 5018 won't work. The screw-holes line up, but that's all. There are two issues: first, the 5018 has a pivot pin at the sear which needs a relief slot in...

Re: Unknown Anschutz model

Definitely a heavy barrel. It has one of the single stage triggers, most likely the 1408-U1 set for 500gr. You asked about the 74 in the proofmarks representing the year of manufacture. Practically, yes this does show that. Technically it gives the date the barrel was proof tested at the Ulm Proof H...

Re: Unknown Anschutz model

James,

You have a 1974 vintage heavy barrel. I presume the barrel is a tad over 27in? Depending on the original stock it could have been a 1413, 1411, or 1410.

Re: Unknown Anschutz model

James, Pictures, we need pictures. Two claws on the bolt narrows it down to any Match 54 made after 1964. I presume it's a single shot action, as Match 54 sporting rifles have always had two claws. If the barrel is marked "Anschutz Modell Match 54", it was made between 1965 and 1980, so a ...

Re: Tec Hro Stock

A clubmate has had one for a couple of years, that I helped him set up. On the whole it's a nice piece of kit, but I had a few small gripes: the supplied screws for the buttplate and cheekpiece were stainless and quite soft; the joint between the butt and main chassis was not flush, and wobbled slig...
