Re: Vision

I don't know what is going on with your eyes, but dry eyes will interfere with your focus. Ask your M.D. if you will need drops.

Re: American Intl Pistol

... (pistol is) not a NCAA sport like rifle is. Maybe that's one of the keys. NCAA is a training ground and also drives sports at the public school level by offering the ability to continue competing as well as the possibility for scholarships. What would it take to motivate the NCAA to sanction pi...

Re: American Intl Pistol

md123180, you are quite right - patience and respect for practice are in short supply. I know someone who worked at Bud's Gun Shop call center and he was just telling me about how many calls he got from people who were upset that their new gun was not very accurate. By their standard, the first .45 ...

Re: American Intl Pistol

We need more depth, and tougher competition in-country. Okay. And how do we get there? It seems to me that Bullseye shooters decry the fact that younger shooters aren't going in for the "stand and deliver" shooting sports and are spending their time and money on the "run and gun"...

Re: and now testing loads for a B/E revolver

Missouri bullet has a 148 gr DEWC-BB (which, as far as I can tell means "Bevel Base") in both .357 and .358 diameters and with or without "Hi-Tek 2-Extreme Coating". I load mine (more or less) flush with the case mouth with slight taper crimp but I shoot .38's mostly through a M ...

Re: Reloading Component_Current Sources

Yes, but where to find Bullseye? It has been on backorder for over 3 months from Lohman's which is the only on-line supplier I could find that would take backorders. I got a notice from Midway that they had received some, but I did not see the email until 45 minutes after it was sent and by then the...

I noticed that some topics have a little red star in the circular icon to the left of the topic header. What does that mean?

Brian - The only links to Molykote that I can find in the US are for a moly grease. Are you referring to something like one of these? Do you use 38 Sp or .357 brass in your 686?

How much light total is not clear from your description. In lower overall light, your pupil will be more open and the image may be less clear, especially if you have astigmatism. Also, in brighter light diffraction of light around the edge of the sight will be more noticeable and make the edges appe...

I have seen, on this thread and others, Model 52 shooters who insist that 1) hollow base is the only way to go 2) DE wadcutters work best 3) it doesn't matter - load what you like but do it consistently and anything out of the 10 ring is your fault. I have also seen some shooters insist that a) a sl...

Why slug the cylinders? I bought a used S&W 586 not too long ago and found that one chamber was always way out of the group. I didn't slug the chambers but checked them with gauge pins and the problem chamber was something like .005" larger than the rest. It was obviously a factory defect b...

I can't help you with your loads, but I use 148 gr DEWC from these people:

Model 52 bushing

I just noticed that someone on the B-S-T forum is looking for a Model 52 barrel bushing. I had an extra, but recently sold it to a poor soul who was desperate to get his 52 back on line. I was thinking about making one (or more) - I work in a machine shop and can sometimes get machine time for "...

I'm not a competitor, I just like to shoot and I've picked up a couple of really nice wheelguns lately just for fun. My question is, is the difference in score due to better inherent accuracy or better ergonomics for semiautos? Or is there really a difference at all? Could the difference between the...

You are absolutely right - I stand corrected. More coils yields a smaller spring constant, i.e., less force per unit deflection:

Just a guess, but I don't think that Wolff will adjust spring force within a family by using different alloys or different tempering - too many variables. The difference between the springs is probably mechanical. If the wire diameters differ, you can measure that with calipers - heavier wire=strong...

It's about pilkguns not allowing people to buy a 'STANDARD' length LP10! No, not exactly. It's about Pilkguns being unwilling to sell a standard length LP10 unless certain conditions are met. Pilkguns is not the sole distributor in the US and Pilkguns is not blocking anyone from obtaining a standar...

I'm waiting for all of the nimrods who bought into the scare propaganda and jumped into reloading to realize that it is a time-consuming process, dangerous if not done with extreme care and not cost-effective unless they shoot a lot more than they used to. I expect there will be a lot of good, barel...
