It is a tube attached to the end of the barrel that is hollow. It allows an extended sight radius for more precise shooting. There is usually a locking ring that attaches to the barrel, and the tube has a pin to relocate it back in the same position. Easy to take off for cleaning with no change in z...

Check guns America. They want 2199.00 with sights. Good deal. Someone ought to snap this one up.

Anything that says Hamden on the side can make it to Perry. Yes only the original clips function well. I've shot there with a slant gripped Citation and a Victor. Both were sandbagged at an inch or less at 50yds. I also have an Aikman chambered Mcgowan barrel that ransom rests into a dime at 50yds. ...

I wouldn't make any asumptions. If I were to do this, I think I might have to go to Feinwerkbau school first, then get the special tooling to pull the job off right, than get advanced tips from the Techs. This is exactly the way my buddy learned to do a S@W action job on a revolver. The information ...

If you have dry fired this gun with the chamber empty, you might have peened a dimple in the chamber. I did this on a High standard and had the same problems you describe. I fixed this with a slightly tapered punch. I was extremely careful not to expand the chamber or touch the rifling. Good luck Ch...

At a local rifle club they shoot 30 meter air rifle benchrest. They shoot outdoors in the summer and usually revalve their rifles to 850fps. A gent in the club does this and he knows his business. I wouldn't attempt it but their are techs who can do this. Ask Pilkguns if they could do it.

Your Ruger is capable of getting you to Perry and be competitive. I'm not sure your Ruger is military gripped with the same angle as a Colt 45, but I shoot 45 style grip angles in all my guns. I am thinking of purchasing an air pistol, but it would do less good if I bought a European style grip with...

Discontinued Lapua Scoremax

This ammunition shot really well in my son's Walther at a 100 yds with it's 48gn bullet. Is there any scource left for this ammo? Is there a replacement ammo with a heavier bullet you would recommend? Looking for a bullet with a better BC to fight the wind. The range we shoot 100yd palma has 3 4' st...

An older Clark Longslide is a classic bullseye gun. Jim Clark really knew how to put a gun together. The accuracy and ergonomics were flawless. The recoil is not as sharp, but it is a tad slower to come back to battery. I shot my best rapid ever at Perry with a Clark Longslide, a 199 11x with a 5 sh...

Have you lapped your rings? Sometimes the rings only contact one edge of a ring. Tighten the top and the tube might get bent. I optically center the scope by counting the number of clicks and going back half way. I then lap the rings for 75% contact and gently tighten the caps. I pull the bolt and v...

Gents, Now for a howl of protests. The 45ACP headspaces on the extractor. Case lengths from the different manufactures all vary in length and tolerance, they all vary in length. Trimming a case is great to get the bullets to crimp on the cannelure, but you are trimming away from the case mouth. So h...

P+ Brass

P+ brass is a lot thicker. With a "normal" cast bullet and P+ brass you might not be able to chamber a round unless the chamber is oversize or the bullet is undersize. I couldn't chamber any P+ brass in my Colt 38. I used a commercial HBWC with VV N310. N310 is possibly the fastest powder ...

That looks like bullets that are undersized to make that amount of leading in 30 shots. I would slug the throat end of that barrel. Measure the groove size and shoot bullets that are .001 over groove size. The worst leading is caused when propellant gas excapes around the sides of the bullet. The lo...

Your 50 yard zero from 50 feet will just need fine tuning. Add 6 minutes for 100 yards. Have you tried Lapua Scoremax? It fires a 48gn bullet that is a little more wind resistant than your Eley 40gn bullet. Hope this helps.

Check the slide play by grabbing the slide and trying to move it side to side and then back end to fore end. No wiggle is excellent. Unload gun and put into battery. Stick your finger on the barrel and wiggle. No movement here is also excellent. Open the slide and check the barrel ramp. If that ramp...

A 21 inch barrel is better because the harmonics of the barrel are shortened. A bloop tube and and tuner would be added to lengthen the sight radius. I would just buy a used benchrest gun. A 54 action can't hold a candle to a benchrest action like a Time, Stolle, Borden, ect, ect. I just saw a Time a...

I've seen plans for a baffle system for shooting off a bench from your window in Precision Shooting magazine, but that does not eliminate the noise from a supersonic bullet. Since all of your rounds will be subsonic, a little shelter with rubberized sheeting on the inside might do the trick. You cou...

A little info on barrels. Stainless barrels are softer than chrome moly only because they are engineered that way. This is done to enhanse the machineability of the metal. Stainless barrell steel will resist flame cutting and throat erosion better than chrome moly, which is why the highpower and ben...

That isn't quite the answer. The grip mounts were held in place by the grip panel screw threads, a task that they were never designed for. Since the mounting screws were well below the axis of the bore, and the aimpoint or red dot scope was well above the axis, a lot of torque was applied to the scr...
