If you handload and choose the right bullets and propellent charges, you can make it work with just about any bottleneck cartridge. I assume this scope was set up for Swiss military ball ammo.

PCW,
Depending on her size, She could buy a CM-2 Cadet and compete in both Smallbore and Biathlon. It comes with sights and a rail and they are selling them on Guns America for $670.00. Just another thought.

Southport in Kenosha has Pistol leagues, but that is a long haul from Buffalo Grove. If you have any Police connections, the North Suburban Police Pistol League used to shoot in B-Grove and other Police ranges in that area. They shoot Bullseye and PPC, alternating every week.Elgin is probably your b...

The initial investment will be the gun, a rail for about $10-15.00, a handstop which you can find used here or at a gunshow for $25.00, a sling and armcuff for $60.00 from Altius, rear sight to fit on weaver base minimum $70.00 and a .750 barrel clamp which you can get at Champions Choice with a fro...

PCW, I bought a Biathlon basic for my son when he was 6 years old. It is a toggle bolt sporter model with the same action as the Ishmash 7-4 biathlon rifle. I had heard they were accurate but when I shot groups as low as .250 at 50yds with R-50, I knew I had a winner. It has a weaver base to which y...

James, That's great if you can get the revolver barrel lined up with your forearm and have the second pad on your trigger finger directly across the front of the trigger. The squeeze to lockup is done really quickly so you can feel and hear the clunk of the lockup. The hammer cannot fall however and...

Takes lots of practice shooting a revolver single action. You need a thumb shelf grip on the left side { obviously if you are right handed}. You need a hammer extension within very easy reach of that thumb, and you practice cocking and resetting your thumb like crazy. Remember, in the 50's the Colt ...

If it has been dryfired, the later High Standards had a tendency to peen the chamber wall where the firing pin usually hits brass. The chamber will have a slight bulge inward that when the brass expands to the chamber during firing will have considerable drag on the slide during extraction. A round ...

For the cracks not in the wrist area of the stock, spread the crack and fill with epoxy. Then clamp the crack together for 24 hours. Wrist cracks usually require an aluminum dowel or two to butress this critical junction. BTW, 54 barreled actions with skinny barrels are an excellent way to start up ...

Highpower Palma, 800,900 and 1000yds I think require the most minutes of any competition, but I am not sure 100%. Fullbore might require more and since they also shoot short distances to start, you might not be able to shim the rifle scope up 20 min. Easily 60 min of elevation. It also depends on th...

Listen to what 'Dude told you' and I will add this. The most important thing you need is good coaching. I went up with my son last year to a match in DePere WI. They had a lot of excellent coaches who helped my son out immensely. He also has a great coach locally. I couldn't be happier. It's just no...

The one thing that is so nice about externally adjusted scopes is that you are always looking through the optical center of the scope. You can come close with an internally adjusted one, that is until you change distances. You get spherical abberations and other distortion as the crosshairs get clos...

This sight has no snow cover. Unless you can improvise one like I did on my Redfield International. I use a cork on a small wire. I did the same on my front sight. I used a spring loaded scope cover on the front of my Tomkins sight and epoxied plastic to extend it over the barrel. Good luck with you...

Isn't this the same type of filter that Stallings makes for the AR service rifle? They say it has multifocal capabilities so you can see the front sight and the target clearly. They call it a phased zone plate. I saw it in 2011 Champions Choice wishbook.

I have not bought a new gun recently, but there is a difference between a gun built by Clark and your local gunsmith. I had a wadgun built by Floyd Smith, in Northern Illinois, whose accuracy was just phenominal. Then I bought a Clark longslide. Floyd,s checkering was dull compared to the Clark. On ...

Amanda, I know you are fixated on the one gun fits all agenda, but you really ought to consider buying 2 used guns, one wad and one ball gun. You must examine them in person. Three things to look for in a used gun: On an unloaded gun in battery, put your finger on the barrel end. Try to get it to mo...
