Interesting rifle
I looked at the SM-1 on the Izhmash site. The CM2 (which they call the Cadet model) is also shown. After realizing that a Match .22 LR upper for my AR-15 is more likely to cost $800 to ~ $900 instead of $500, I am willing to put more money into a smallbore practice rifle. I friend of mine has his FF...

Subsonic Match ammo?
I often "plink" in my backyard with my son shooting CCI CB Caps (Shorts) in my old lever-action .22. These rounds are about as loud as a magnum air rifle, no CRACK! like you get with super-sonic High Velocity .22 LR rounds. This is nice since my dogs don't cower under the porch and my neig...

I do a considerable amount of dry firing. In the end though, it is always best to put some holes in the paper to be sure you are really getting the job done. I have found dry firing to be a great help in my offhand practice, but one area that has been vexing me lately is POI shift in the prone posit...

Economical Match rifle
I am looking for a economical match rifle for home practice during the NRA Highpower off-season. I don't need a rifle that is capable of being competitive in ISSF matches, but I do want one that is accurate enough to allow me to call my shots and see improvement. I have been considering the followin...

Bob, Thanks for the info. You're right about the effective size of the 200 yard 10-ring should be 7.22 for a .223 cartridge. I guess I can't read my own writing, since I did the math that showed that the X and 10 ring on the Highpower targets is about the same as the 10 and 9 ring on the 10m target,...

Target dimensions, scoring and accuracy
I shoot Highpower rifle, but I am getting interested in air rifle for practice and convenience. In Highpower (for standing) we have a 1.5 moa X-ring, 3.5 moa 10-ring and a 6.5 moa 9-ring. The size of the bullet hole compared to the scoring rings is small (7 inch 10 ring @ 200 yards) so the "eff...

Differences between Daisy 853 and 753
I am considering the purchase of an air rifle for target practice and I am wondering what the differences are between these two Daisy target rifles. The 753 has a different shaped stock and is slightly longer, but I don't see anything that would account for the big step up in price for the 753. I pl...
