I have considered getting a Gehmann rear sight to replace my Walther. The Walther is a good sight with repeatable adjustments, but the Gehmann looks like it has lower adjustment knobs which I prefer for standing position. I read the sight on the AF Edge rifles are also a good option with repeatable ...

Is it possible that the way in which she is lowering her head onto the cheekpiece is causing slight momentum and affecting balance. This might be an area to check. I don't use wobble blocks but instead practice barefooted at home. The insoles in my boots are Dr. Shole's thin pillow soles. I use thes...

I was at a couple of matches where they measured the stiffness with an electronic meter. Both times they almost failed them before getting them to pass. After that I kept a copy of the inspection form and my stickers. Recently I started rolling the pant legs in both directions to break in the canvas...

I saw your post on postal matches. Don Williams in Oregon, U.S. runs a seasonal postal match called the International Airgun League. I contacted him today and the winter league just started. A competitor shoots a 20 shot match and emails the scores where he tracks them and sends a status out to ever...

I shoot a Walther and like the carbon fiber shroud. I've recently switched the steel cylinder for an aluminum one to shed weight and adjust the balance point. I have not seen a Walther Jr. with laminate stock at matches but I have seen both the FWB P70 Jr. and FWB 700 Evolution used with good result...

I was reading through the MEC Air Rifle book while figuring out if I needed to get a pair of shooting glasses. The book states that one reason for blurred vision could be the body's need for fresh oxygen and that one of the first things to go could be vision. I had a similar problem at a match where...

I also shoot an LG300xt. In the past I had started with 10mm risers and then after some trial and error tried the AHG 20mm risers. I had also tried the Centra 4-22mm risers but stuck with the 20mm as I found these worked best for me. My coach suggested I move the sight further back to prevent stretc...

Thanks for the feedback on the pellet. As for going to a lighter one, in the past I noticed slight muzzle rise with standard weight pellets from different makers. I had some RWS lights when I first got my rifle a few years ago and gave them to a pistol shooter without trying them first. He said that...

Crosman Supermatch
I was looking around for a lighter weight pellet and saw the Crosman Supermatch pellet at 7.9gr. Has anyone tried these Supermatch pellets in their match rifle? Just curious how these might perform compared to other brands commonly used like RWS and H&N.

I have tried different support hand techniques and settled on the fist method. Using an open hand I could shoot decent scores, but I did not feel relaxed and so it was difficult for me to be consistent. When using a fist method I used to use my two middle knuckles, but felt that I was using more acc...

Its not often that I can make it to the range for live fire training, and even though I have a Rika home trainer I do most of my training using a dot on the wall. I used to use just my coat, but now I'm down to only a glove. I figure that if I can hold steady without boots, coat, or pants than I sho...

At my club Walthers seem to have a good following but I've seen a few FWB 700's to include a Junior, Aluminum, and Evolution at some matches. One feature I like about the 700 is the built in sight risers. The Aluminum version I saw had a homemade cheekpiece on it and a Tec-Hro sight extension tube. ...

I shoot standing air rifle and have been using a single stage for the last year. I've had some good success with a single stage trigger, but I'm considering going back to a two stage. I plan on using the first stage during the lowering movement as I pause just above the target and take one last brea...

I shoot standing only and use Swiss Coramis. I've been using them for about 6 months. They have good arch support and a low heal. I shoot right handed and my right boot (back foot) sometimes feels sore on the outside ridge towards my small toe after a long practice session but they offer good suppor...

I started with 10mm. I was able to get good results, but felt that I was stretching my neck too much and bought an AHG 20mm set. Something to try for standing is shortening your length of pull and going with a taller set (16-22mm). If you move your sight rearward this might help reduce stretching yo...

A couple of areas in the shot process that I focus on are pre-aiming and breathing. I started pre-aiming by looking down the side of the barrel to make sure I'm oriented as the rifle and my position settles. Then when I lower my head I'm very close to my natural point of aim and minimal adjustment i...

I shoot 10m rifle and last weekend my coach watched me shoot a 10 shot series and even though my shots were mostly 10's he wanted me to concentrate on my timing as I lower the muzzle. He drew a line onto the back of a pistol target and had me tracing the line to the middle of the paper followed by a...
