Maybe, coming from the city and from a country where people aren't so diehard patriotic, I just don't understand that kind of mind-set that those from the US have about the Constitution and guns. I guess I never will. Yes, that must be the difference between a nation founded as a penal colony and t...

Of course, the UK is the place where the Tony Martin incident occurred: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/htmlContent.jhtml?html=/archive/2000/04/20/nmar20.html Yes it is, with an illegally held shotgun. Incidentally, shotguns have not been banned. Why should Mr. Martin have to prove any need to have a fi...

Actually, owning a machine gun is illegal in the U.S. Actually, it is not. If your state has not outlawed the possession of an automatic firearm, you can purchase one by applying for a tax stamp from the ATF. The process includes background checks and there are significant restrictions on the inter...

I've can say from personal experience, should you ever find yourself facing a violent, armed criminal, and you're as amp'ed up on adrenaline as you will ever be in your entire life, and the thought suddenly hits you, "Gee, I may very well die in the next few seconds, and there's nothing I can ...

I'm glad that where I live, the closest thing to a crime wave we get is when a few windows are broken on a Saturday night. I'm 42 years old and I have never been the victim of violent crime. Statiscally, I will never be either. But I am not about to trust my security, nor that of my family, to stat...

Hey methosb, just to show you how paranoid we are, there are organizations like this: http://www.suarezinternationalstore.com ... stom&ID=10 that help train regular joes like me to stand on their feet and win.

More paranoia, what?

Do you seriously believe that if by some amazing chance some person sneaks into your house, with the specific intent to harm you for some reason, that you would even be able to get to your gun? When you have an intrusion alarm system, a dog that will bark like crazy at an intruder, and this: http:/...

Thinking that you need quick access to a loaded gun in your house to "protect you from the bad guys" is rediculously paranoid. http://www.cbs58.com/index.php?aid=1755 http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080314/NEWS01/803140409 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22528385 http://...

Can none of your seriously say that there is one thing wrong with the gun laws in the US? That nothing is even remotely too lax? I mean, an example I can think of is a friend of mine in the US who has a gun just sitting in a draw in her bed side table. That is just mind boggling to me, anyone can g...

Just to set the facts straight, at least for the UK, the increase in violent crime has nothing to do with the banning of cartridge pistols. It is pure coincidence, but at least proves that legalised ownership was not the cause of the illegal use. Regardless of the cause of the rise in violent crime...

Like I said. I am not for any kind of full ban on all guns. I just see no reason for civilians to have these crazy military weapons. For civilians to have access to these weapons, it certainly doesn't make it harder for criminals to get a hold of them does it? If the weapons are somewhere that some...

I don't see a problem with a tightening of the laws in the US (not a ban). I don't really see why everyone and their grandma needs to be able to own an M16... just because. I'm a gun owner and I completely agree with laws here in the Aus that say you can only use weapons for club shooting or for hu...

Some of you pistol guys ought to try a few plays from Fairbairn and Sykes. You would be amazed at what you can do without aiming if you know what you are doing. FYI, shotgunners can hit small objects travelling very fast and in sometimes irregular flightpaths without using sights. And, yes, I do kno...

It seems to me that people in this country have become so used to being taken care of, that they are not willing to fight back even in the face of death. Jim, that is precisely the mentality that socialism tries so hard to foster. To turn free thinking and free acting citizens into pre-programmed d...

Someone from the UK is asking this?

British shooters, of all people, should understand the impact things like this have on the lawful use and possession of firearms.

Dry firing (dropping the hammer on an empty chamber) will not harm the overwhelming majority of centerfire handguns. The few that would have warnings on the user's guide.

I dry fire the hell out of my handguns and have never had an issue.
