You are aware that the market for smallbore/ISSF target equipment is probably at least 10 times great in Europe especially those countries that you named. Now if you wanted to buy IPSC stuff or service rifle gear, the Europeans would probably say the same thing regarding their situation. When I was...

BTW, the synthetic 40 mm sling made by Champion's Shooters Supply is every bit the equal of the higher-priced stuff made in Europe.

It serves me well regardless of what kind of rifle I have hooked up to it.

I do have a inexpensive Simmons spotting scope that is ok for now, but the stand stinks to high heaven. I'm trying to modify it to work better. Likely going to have to do something else before long. Chad, do not ignore suppliers geared mostly towards Highpower Rifle in your search for gear. When it...

Creedmoor is more high power oriented, I wouldn't expect them to be very helpful for smallbore rifle. While the first half of your statement is correct, the second one is not. Dennis DeMille and his staff are professionals not only in the shooting sports but in customer service as well. Dennis is d...

Are you seeing a correlation between the wind deflection of a 22 RF bullet at 50 yards and the deflection of a pellet at 25?

I do a similar thing, using a smallbore prone rifle at 50 - 100 yards to train for fullbore prone at 600 - 1000 yards.

Some very good advice here. The corollary of all this is that once you break a performance barrier at an actual match, you can have a very liberating mental experience. You have broken through a barrier where you have transported your best mental and training performances into the actual arena. Now ...

I think the key point is that you recognize that ultimately skill improvement equals score improvement. Without the skill, the most perfect firearm will not make a dime's worth of difference. But the most skilled shooter will be held back from his true potential by a substandard firearm. So buy the ...

The bald guys shoot fast and blow things up video is not the best image for us sane gun owning target shooting athletes in my opinion. Some of those things are well beyond just guns. Lighten up, Francis. The last 30 seconds are the best. I'd love to shoot an RPG. Seiously, that looks kick ass. But ...

Interesting article below supporting Jose's post. I am surprised at the 16 oz total trigger pull weight. That high a pull weight would definitely make me think differently about trigger overtravel. http://www.zediker.com/articles/dt_triggering.pdf 16 ounces is normal for centerfire prone rifles in ...

Shoot into a box of rags instead. After a while a ball of lead forms in the middle of the box so you can never shoot through it. You may never have to empty the box, but if you do give the lead to a bullet caster and make him buy you beer. The whole business costs you nothing. Or just cast them int...

Now if you dial in a lot of overtravel who knows where the bullet is when you hit the stop. Already out the barrel. Lots of overtravel is one of the techniques G. David Tubb uses to set up his rifles. Hard to argue with the man's record and his reasons for doing what he does. At the very least, the...

Gerhard, the courses of fire that you posted are also used very frequently here not only on metric matches but also on US target/rule matches. That much is pretty common. The main difference are the targets. US NRA standard targets are easier than ISSF targets. A shot that lands 9.5 on an ISSF targe...

Since you said "just for fun" there's no need to go all Olympic :^) Buy the Champions Choice handstop for $15 or so, and whatever International-style sling suits your fancy & budget. I disagree. The cheapo knurled handstops sold by Champion's Choice are murder on the hand even with th...

Joe, Do you use the lens in front or rear sight? Front. I've had disappointing results with Gehmann apertures with adjustable magnifiers. Their clarity is nowhere near as good as a good lens in the front sight and they pretty much fall apart under the recoil of centerfire rifles. My SB rifle still ...

I subscribe to the theory that some overtravel was good in case I yanked the trigger. Overtravel is good even if your break is perfect. Preventing the trigger from coming to a stop immediately after breaking should keep the rifle steady for those few milliseconds that the bullet is in the bore, par...

I really like Sinclair International's own handstop. It is shaped like a MEC but does not have the total adjustability that MEC does so it is quite a bit cheaper. Not to mention that it is American made, so the currency exchange favors it over anything made in Europe. http://www.sinclairintl.com/pro...
