Re: FYI: Problems with Recent CCI Ammunition

Gwhite, what is the “Aguila Standard Velocity” ammunition you use? Aguila is just starting to be imported into Oz but there is quite a variety of rounds and no apparent system of numbers (like CCI uses). Maybe we need to move away from CCI if they have lost the plot (unfortunately).

Re: FYI: Problems with Recent CCI Ammunition

We've had a problem with the heavy beeswax lube on CCI SV rounds. My mate takes his out of the box, suspends them above a kitchen towel and puts them out in the sun under a glass bowl. This provides enough heat to remove the excess. He shoots Free pistol so doesn’t have any of the other semi-auto pr...

SteveT, one has to be careful about ignoring this stuff. If we don’t pay attention we could end up with legislation being enacted which we cannot live with.

Unbelievable. They waste their time on this shit and let all the other fundamental firearms ownership issues slide by.

It would be Scott, Spencer or Richard. Whichever it is, thanks from me too.

Not a question I can answer as I have yet to bring myself to sell any of my firearms!

Re: Ban

The National Small-bore Rifle Association of the UK put together a paper to submit to a Government call for submissions on the issue of banning lead ammunition. It makes for very interesting reading: https://www.nsra.co.uk/index.php/news/administration/3439-potential-restriction-on-the-use-of-lead-i...

Re: training to minimize wobble?

Sorry Doug, I hadn’t picked up on your post. Glad you now have the links. The two papers are quite hard going and intended for coaches. One section I really struggled with in the Pistol Shooting (91 page) paper was the section beginning on page 58. Zeljko talks of an angular factor which has a large...

Re: training to minimize wobble?

Sorry toddinjax I misconstrued your point. If you are able to hold the front sight steady in the rear sight but still have "wobble" then it really is a body movement issue. I think the side-on stance will help but also if you lock your knees and ankles by having your feel parallel.

Re: training to minimize wobble?

I followed the "comfortable stance" dictum for a long time (years) but looking at all the elite shooters on the ISSF video channel it seems that they all, to a man/women, stand side-on. So I thought "perhaps that's the way to go". I know mimicking is not a guarantee of success bu...

Re: The New ISSF Air Pistol Finals Format

Screw them all. Take shooting out of the Olympics and let shooters get on with meaningful competition instead of childish, dysfunctional attempts at boosting popularity for the ignorant spectator masses every four years. Here, Downunder, we hope that shooting remains in the Olympics. It is one of t...

Re: Who makes a nice pellet shaker box?

I own several different pellet shaker boxes, seems like they are all put together the same way and look identical or very similar. The problem I run into is eventually part of the platform stops rising to the proper level when the box is opened which makes it hard to get the pellets out. Seems like...

Re: IZh35M going full-auto..

"The MP 438 has a tab which may slow it a bit, I can't find a picture." Hmmm - I had a MP438 and don't recall seeing anything like that.. I'll ask the current owner to have a look.. The tab is attached to a hinged, shaped bar which serves two functions: when the tab (actually a spike) is ...

Re: Pistol shooting shoes...do they work?

I bought a pair of Do-Win (Korean I believe) weight lifting shoes from a guy in Hungary through eBay (go figure) for less than US$70 a while back. Very stable with a wooden heel and a Velcro strap across the instep which I cut off since it added nothing to stability. Regrettable they were a little t...

Re: Feinwerkbau P8X review: how to improve it?

Hi, The trigger shoes are spare parts for Walther GSP and SSP guns. There are various sorts - plastic or metal, short-stemmed or long-stemmed. I like them because the curve is comfortable to my finger size/shape. I make new adaptors to suit the gun I'm fitting it to and cut the stem to suit the ada...
