Re: Grip sizing

I support the comment on Thomas Rink’s grips but even they vary alot in how “fat” they are. I’ve bought several and have now settled on the “d” versions (thick). However, although one can be near perfect, another can seem too thin, my grip for a FWB P44 being an example - I still had to putty it up ...

Re: Do athletes solely train for one event or do they participate in multiple events?

To the OP, the Swedish, seven times Olympian, Ragnar Skanaker used to shoot (well) in a variety of pistol disciplines. Though AP (1980 WC) and FP (50m) (GM 1972 Olympics, Swedish record of 583 = WR for Jin Jong-Oh) were/are his principle disciplines, he also set a record in Standard Pistol (1978 WC ...

Re: How to break into Olympic competitive pistol shooting

If you just start shooting, you will likely develop all sorts of bad habits that will be hard to break. Try to find a local club where they hold regular matches, and see if anyone can provide even a little coaching to get you started right. Gwhite's point is very important - bad habits are very har...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

It’s probably trying to teach grandma to suck eggs but after a number of years of reloading with my previously loved RL550B and the extra-small charge bar and getting significant (in my view) variations in powder load, I've found that load consistency depends on allowing the powder to drop! That is ...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

...a round hole should throw a more consistent charge than a slot. Agree wholeheartedly. I am currently using up what little Bullseye powder I have left and, using the SRF powder bar I am getting remarkably consistent loads of 1.58-1.60gn (using a GemPro 250 scale) even though the powder level is n...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

The expander is critical, full length and correct diameter. James, Should the "correct diameter" be the size of the bullet or (say) one thou oversize to allow for brass springback? Also, your brass charge bars are interesting - wish I had the facilities to make such stuff. A while back I ...

Not outrageously priced (in Europe) given the prices of guns today.

Re: TOZ 49 in USA??

TOZ 36s and 49s are often seen on ranges here in Australia and in for sale ads. A number of the 49s have been modified to take .32SWL wadcutter ammunition. For that mod, and to retain the gas seal, it is necessary to sleeve the cylinder chambers to take the 32s and to shorten the cylinder and move t...

Matchguns MG2 & MG2E Exploded Drawings

Hi all, A colleague of mine is trying to find usable drawings of the frames and trigger mechanisms for the older mechanical and electronic versions of the MG2. He has obtained an older MG2E which he wants to convert to a mechanical trigger (he's very handy in the machine shop) and needs to see what ...

Re: Interpreting Targets — Rings of 9s

I agree with PirateJohn. I believe you are unwittingly looking through your front sight at the target and, as Rover would say, you are trying to ambush the 10 ring on your way past it. I have an AP target I shot with a beautiful ring of holes in the 9 ring! I still have that problem but am working t...

Would so love to buy but illegal for ordinary stiffs in Australia. Firearm becomes a semi-auto longarm.

Re: RF Pistol Weights - Schumann and EVO-4

My colleague has just pointed out that one has to supply one's own barrel for the Schumann/Evo-4 shroud and the one he tried had a standard (SP) barrel fitted. He'd be interested to hear of any experience using the same rig but with an RF barrel.

Re: The new Margolin thread

Unless you've already done it, make sure you file the edges with an outward (towards the front) bevel, i.e. wider on the target side than the shooter side. Also, it is worth noting that not all the Margolin parts are interchangeable. I found that the rear sight screw thread seems to have been change...
