Re: Sight Picture Troubles
This has just come up since we started practicing indoors and only with her smb with clear, beveled apertures. No problems with air rifle with metal inserts. Rear aperture is the same on both rifles. Just a thought - is light able to get into the side of the perspex insert? On foresights that are d...

Re: Sight Picture Troubles
Does she use a corrective lens?
How is her distance vision?
Indoors or outdoors?
Position/discipline?
Rear iris aperture size?
Do you have access to anything like SCATT or Noptel?

Re: SCATT comparison - USB versus MX-02
Also, I plan to use this is in an indoor/outdoor area of the house which during the day is lit by natural light - can this cause problems and/or should it influence my choice? Going by my experience with my USB - YES, IT WILL DEFINITELY CAUSE PROBLEMS. I used to use my USB with the target in the co...

Re: Scatt Results, Cause and Correction
I was wondering if anyone else had this type experience Kenny, the MX2 should definitely be faster, its not running through a printer cable to a USB adapter. I personally know of three other people (all of whom I have discussed this with) who have had the same experience. One of them emailed SCATT ...

Re: Scatt Results, Cause and Correction
I have been on a similar journey this year - firstly changing from a USB SCATT to the MX-02, which definitely produces more pessimistic numbers to the USB due (we think) to it's higher resolution (sample rate). Previously, with the USB version I would use an F-coefficient of 40 - but to get similar ...

Re: Anshutz 1907 Bolt Removal
The bottom lug of the bolt/firing pin could also be fouling on the stock to the rear of the tang - removing the action from the stock would allow the bolt to be removed if that's the case. Not a solution but at least you'd know what the problem is..

Re: Focal length at 50 metres
I think Tim made a good point stating that you may have to play with eye relief - the level of light outdoors is way higher than indoors which results in your eye's iris being more contracted. One upshot of this is that the peephole appears smaller - i.e. there is less perceived gap between the inne...

Re: starik tube/tuner
Like Kevin, I don't completely buy into the Positive Compensation idea - if I understand correctly, one implication is that you would need a different point of tune for 25 yards, 50m and 100 yards. I don't find this to be true and my rifles shoot equally well at all ranges with only one point of tun...

Re: Anschutz 54.30 or 1913
Hans, I get the impression that if any DO appear before the end of the year, they will be going into the hands of German National Squad, International Shooters or people who pre-ordered in May. What I'm hearing over here is that our importer/distributor may have 10 rifles allocated to them in April....

Re: Anschutz 54.30 or 1913
Hi Hans From what I'm hearing, you may have to wait until next year to get a 54.30. I doubt that they will be widely available any time soon. If you are stretching to load the older Anschutz then it might be worth the wait though. Also consider the Walther KK300 which is a very good rifle and the KK...

Re: Online matches via electronic trainer
I have seen the groupcenter make large sudden moves on scat with no change on paper. The USB version will do that - you can put the rifle in a rest and watch the POA drift around. I used to practice with the target in the conservatory and the changes in POA when the sun came out were substantial. T...

Re: Rebarrel .22 Anschutz (UK)
If after all that you decide you do need a new barrel then the only two gunsmiths I could find willing to fit a rimfire barrel in the UK were Robert Nibbs (as mentioned above) and Steve Kershaw, nobody else was interested. I've had a benchmark barrel on order from the states since February and it d...

Re: Rebarrel .22 Anschutz (UK)
Ah, you're not far from me - I'm in West London just off the A40. The short barreled 2013's had a bit of a reputation for not lasting as long as the long barreled versions. That said, I'd like to see a photo of the muzzle when you take the tube off... One of my clubmates installed a drop-in Lilja on...

Re: Rebarrel .22 Anschutz (UK)
Intershoot were doing drop in Lilja replacement barrels for 20 series Anschutz for £400 - but they've gone from the website now. Might be worth a call though. As Tim says, it might just need a damn good cleaning. Another easy way to test if it's shot out is with a sturdy bipod, scope and back bag at...

Re: ISSF World Cup Prone - Clapping during Final Shots
What David said.
I don't think the finalists in a World Cup Final would be fazed by this at all - if they were then they didn't deserve to be there.
Personally, I rather enjoy it...

Re: cleaning
I don't know how many shooters at the international level use bore snakes... I do know of several users of expensive Swiss rifles have had their accuracy restored by having the manufacturer re-crown them. This manufacturer also has a chemical process for removing lead from the bore which also aids i...

Re: cleaning
I'll usually clean when I finish shooting - VFG felts and (half the time) Boretech rimfire blend. Every few hundred rounds I'll give it a few strokes with a bronze brush or a VFG intensive felt (to remind it who's the boss). I also have a worn out bronze brush which I use to scrub the leade. http://...

Re: Rear Iris
When I shot my friends rifle (he wanted to know if it shot or whether it was him - it was him) I initially set the iris to where I would normally have it and dialed in the focus to give a sharpish foresight but the aiming mark was REALLY grey and indistinct. the only way I could get an acceptable s...

Re: Rear Iris
with prescription dialed into fancy expensive rear iris seems to be working well this year. Do you mean that you are using a magnifying diopter (Centra, Gehmann or similar)? I think different rules apply to them. When I recently shot a friends rifle with one of those, I found I was closing the iris...
