Re: ANATOLII PIDDUBNYI 1925 - 2015
I am so sorry to hear this. He was a great man who was able and willing to see the process of target shooting with fresh eyes and an inventive mind. He was not content to repeat the standard wisdom, but instead cut directly to what would work. Then, he was generous in sharing his insights with every...

Re: OFF TOPIC: A bit of logic on gun control (FWIW)
What's not brilliant - not at all brilliant - is the false premise of that little statement. Do you really think people are such idiots that they can't distinguish between "gun owners" and people who happen to possess firearms who really shouldn't (like the guy recently arrested in Enid, ...

Re: Brass cleaning and lead exposure
The presence of firearms in the home is a known risk factor in suicide. I should note that there has been recent research showing that suicide among middle aged and older males in the US is increasing as a cause of death. So it's not that the presence of guns per se indicates an unhealthy lifestyle...

Actually, not showing up at all is as non-competitive as one could be. Go!Highwayman wrote: However, I'm loosely aware that showing up to a Bullseye league with a Glock is as non-competitive as one could be.

Re: Isakov and Walther LP400
I was referring to the problem of the threads in the LP400 cylinder stripping .....A small minority of people are more careless than the rest of us; this is a fact. If Walther thought that they were dealing with a significant problem with respect to cylinder threads, they would have addressed it by...

Re: Is grip fitting as simple as...
Doug, I had the same problem you describe on a couple of grips, and nearly went crazy using the "recommended" techniques of adding or subtracting material on the back of the grip. It turned out the problem was related to the way I gripped, and the correction(s) had to do with altering the ...

Re: Interesting Failure Mode: Morini CM84 Electronic Free Pi
Some grips for the 84e have a piece of stiff foam already installed, which keeps the battery in position. Most Morini brand grips have this, I think, but AFAIK the Rink grips do not. It's an easy fix. Also the Exell brand batteries seem to have rounder contacts than the previously available batterie...

Not sure if this is the same creature: http://www.bullseyeforum.net/t1453-benelli-mp-90-95-better-recoil-buffer-free The buffer DavidR describes on the Bullseye Forum is definitely better in my .22 Benelli than either the factory buffer or the buffer sold by Larry's. It actually cured some function...

If the rod rotates exactly 1/4 turn in exactly 5 1/4 inches, then the twist rate is 1 in 21 inches.dragon wrote:In the 6 inch barrel, of which about 5 1/4 inches are rifled, the rod turns only about 1/4 turn.

Re: Pardini GT9 barrel
Take a cleaning rod that has a handle that rotates freely, and put a patch on it that's tight in the barrel. Insert the rod from the muzzle and push in almost to the chamber. Take a piece of masking tape and make a "flag" on the rod right flush to the muzzle. Using the handle, slowly pull ...

Re: Steyr LP5 CO2 cylinder - filled weight
Fred B, you have it exactly right! After owning five or six CO2 guns, I think I have it down. Even better yet, get a decent SSP and don't sweat any of this stuff. I'm only pushing CO2 guns because a new shooter (or anybody) can get one cheap. Good, now we're on the same page, and I can disagree wit...

Re: Steyr LP5 CO2 cylinder - filled weight
I did NOT say to weigh the cylinder. The manufacturer says to do that after you freeze the cylinder prior to filling. I didn't say to freeze the cylinder either. I just said to fill it with all it would take. I said he would get plenty of shots using this method; certainly more than enough for a ma...

Re: Aimpoint Micro vs ML2 - Dot Flare
So physically there is no reason that focusing on the dot or the target will facilitate/hinder aiming. How it affects people mentally, on the other hand, is a different story. Well, I'm not sure I see such a clear distinction between "physically" and "mentally", but there seem t...

Re: Steyr LP5 CO2 cylinder - filled weight
You're going to fill the cylinder with all it will take (it's a liquid). I've found that will not completely fill it unless it's cold, but it will give you more shots than you need. In other words, don't worry about it. Of course you can overfill it. That's why they supply a cylinder bleeder with t...

Re: Aimpoint Micro vs ML2 - Dot Flare
There are two schools of thought. The first is Brian Zins. He says look at the target, and not the dot. The second school of thought is to make the dot big enough and bright enough so you don't look at the target. It is hard to commit to any one of these theories. The whole debate appears rather mo...

Re: Steyr LP5 CO2 cylinder - filled weight
You're going to fill the cylinder with all it will take (it's a liquid). Sorry, but I've found it's definitely possible to overfill a Steyr CO2 cylinder by 10g or more. I don't know what Steyr's reasoning is (safety? reliable operation? other?), but they clearly do not want you to fill the cylinder...

Re: Steyr LP5 CO2 cylinder - filled weight
It's not wise to rely on a manual in determining fill weight for a Steyr CO2 cylinder. That's because Steyr CO2 cylinders were made in both steel and aluminum, and the aluminum cylinders came in several different (unfilled) weights. Every Steyr CO2 cylinder I've seen has the unfilled ("tara&quo...

Re: Aimpoint Micro vs ML2 - Dot Flare
I switched from an Aimpoint ML2 to a Micro and the dot on the Micro appears as three distinct dots - like a Micky Mouse head. I do not have the problem with the older, larger ML2. Is this related to my eyeglass prescription and/or astigmatism? Look through the sight while holding your head steady a...
