It turns out one of my cylinders is good for only 7 months. It's been a while since I shot it, and I'd forgotten that the 2nd cylinder had to be replaced and already has the new gauge. It's good for several more years. I sent queries off to several US Morini dealers to see what the economics of both...

Back to the original topic: I haven't had a problem with my older knurled gauges, but from the sound of things, it may only be a matter of time. Does anyone know if there is someone in the USA who can replace the gauges with the new style? Replacement cylinders are $175 from our host, so it's presum...

Using the gauge during a match is particularly difficult. I have yet to see an easy way of reading one on the firing point without having the range staff jump all over you (6.2.2.4). You could always use a mirror: https://webvia.techni-tool.com/VIA/Res/ViaImages/PRODIMAGE/7/758IE028.jpg This a plas...

I'm afraid the original poster has set off a fire storm by asking the wrong question. The question should be: Which air pistol is best for ME? All of the air pistols listed are very high quality, and are capable of shooting world record scores. However, every shooter is different, and the ergonomics...

I have a recent SP New, and it seems to like CCI just fine. My wife's older SP does not. The problem is not so much that the bullet is longer, but that the moderately hard wax lube they use appears to be allowed to dry with the bullets down. As a result, there is a blob of wax on the end of every ro...

There are clones of the Docter sight that address some of these issues. There is at least one out there that allows replacing the battery without dismantling anything and tweaking the brightness. I don't recall the specific brand at the moment, but I think it was only available with an integral Weav...

I use Breakfree CLP for my cleaning solvent, RemOil as a light oil for slides, and a light grease (TW-25) for sliding high pressure surfaces, like where the hammer pushes against the under side of the slide. Any residue of Breakfree will provide some rust protection, and it doesn't turn into varnish...

I can't help with the Ultradot, but my wife and I both shoot SP's with a 3 MOA Docter sight. This is a configuration that Don Nygord used to sell. They are very light and don't affect the balance of the pistol at all. Unfortunately, the prices on the sights have gone through the roof in the last yea...

Tendonitis is nasty. I had it in my fingers, and it still flares up occasionally. One thing to keep in mind: it has a positive feedback property. Once you tick it off beyond a certain level, the more you annoy it, the worse it will get, and the easier it will be to annoy it. The first thing you have...

Three possible things come to mind from your recent experiments: 1) Your solenoid is sticking. This could be due to fossilized oil that has gotten into it, or dirt. I don't know if there is any easy way to see if the solenoid plunger moves freely or not. It probably has a return spring, which makes ...

Gwhite , I hear what you're saying but the rest doesn't dig into my wrist unless I drop my hand further than the neutral wrist position. And, if the rest doesn't support the hand/wrist alignment to some extent, what is its' purpose? What I mean is if it's not somehow supporting your wrist alignment...

My theory has always been that the palm rest should merely be an aid to getting a repeatable grip, not as a significant source of pressure or support in any direction. If it's digging into your wrist, something isn't right. I've had the same issue with the palm rest on some pistols. If everything el...

My wife and I both get pain in our elbows if we shoot with grips that are angled a lot. It varies from day to day, but when it is really bad, it gets to the point where every shot sends a pain up my arm like hitting my funny bone. It becomes nearly impossible not to flinch. Something about the angle...

Sport Pistol Grips
My wife has had a Pardini SP for several years, and the steep angle of the grip occasionally causes pain in her elbow. I got an SP New recently, and had the same problem. I had been shooting a Benelli MP90S, which has a Nill-Griffe grip that I never had a problem with. I purchased a Nill-Griffe grip...

Because you want dry air in your guns, the pumps don't remove the moisture from air, which is why they need constant bleeding to remove the water. Over time that extra moisture will lead to corrosion. The Hill pump comes with a dessicant filter option. I also keep the humidity in my basement quite ...

I saw some Ely at a Massachusetts gun shop recently that was made in Mexico. That sounded suspiciously like Aguila, who were getting their priming technology from Ely. I forget the exact designation, and couldn't find mention of it with a quick Google search. Does anyone know what this stuff is &...
