Re: Caring for an MG2E
Every once in a while (after several thousand rounds), I do a more though cleaning. I start by using compressed air to blow all of the loose stuff out, and then go over everything I can with dry cotton swabs, followed by swabs with gun oil on them. I find that pointed cotton swabs can get into a lot...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
It sounds like a little breaking in has helped with the occasional quirks. I never liked the factory grip, which is odd, because I love the grips on my Morini pistols. I didn't want to spend lots of time puttying the heck out of the factory grip, and I have Rink grips on my two MG2's. My wife has ve...

Re: Olympic 10m pistol
If you are on a budget, investigate getting a used pistol. Lots of people take up the sport and either decide it's not for them, or decide to upgrade to a pistol with all the latest bells & whistles. If they are well cared for, a good quality air pistol can shoot well for decades. Try to get one...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
You may need to adjust the speed at which you cycle the slide for the first round. I've had the "toss the 1st round out" problem maybe twice in about 25,000 rounds fired. The factory has played around a LOT with the carrier & bullet insert lever design, and if it happens a lot, one or ...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Feeding jams can occur if you try to be gentle with it, or tilt the pistol too much. Pull the slide back all the way, and then let it fly while holding the pistol level the way it would be when firing. Clearing jams can be tricky. Start by holding the grip horizontal (right or left, doesn't matter),...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
For your first .22, an MG2 is a very ambitious start... They are fantastic pistols IF the factory had a good day. You are on the right track. Things that slide/rotate need lubrication, and they need to be kept moderately clean. The MG2 cycles so fast that it leaves a lot of partially burned and unbu...

Re: Pistol Pellets: 7.0 gr vs. 8.2 grain ?
I'm still waiting for a definitive statement from Scott on the subject. We are pistol shooters here, which represents a small portion of the air gun market. I've definitely seen strong recommendations that heavier pellets are good for air rifle, and they are accurate enough that you can tell the dif...

Re: Pistol Pellets: 7.0 gr vs. 8.2 grain ?
USA Shooting Newsletter May/June 2008 https://usashooting.org/publications/ (There are more article like this, in the other issues.) Thanks, but if you search this article, it doesn't mention pellet weight anywhere. I skimmed it and didn't see anything, so I searched for "weight", "h...

Re: Pistol Pellets: 7.0 gr vs. 8.2 grain ?
I would be curious to read the original discussion of this from Scott. Was it for pistols, rifles, both or unspecified? I believe H&N or RWS used to specify their heavier match pellets for rifles, and the lighter ones for pistols.

Re: Walther LP200
It looks like he's only working on newer Crosman rifles at the moment. One problem with starting from scratch is that he won't have access to the decades of accumulated spare parts for all sorts of air gun models that Pilkington has. Crosman parts can be obtained quickly & easily in the US. Befo...

Re: Pistol Pellets: 7.0 gr vs. 8.2 grain ?
Nicely put. We had a student on our college team that out shot one member of the US Olympic squad and finished right behind two other members in the 2022 Collegiate National Championships. She was shooting 7 gram RWS Basics in an ancient Hammerli 480K pistol.

Re: "Sensive" Trigger Blades for Air Pistol?
Well, it looks like the forum allows Zip files, so I've attached one that has two different versions of the trigger, in both STL & STEP formats. Version 3 uses 8 rows of 4 points, and Version 4 is a bit coarser, with 6 rows of 3 points. The patterns are arranged so there is a notch in the center...

Re: Sight image for 25m
Sub-six for precision target, then adjust the backsight and aim just below the whiskers for rapid fire target. This is certainly the most widely recommended approach. With my aging eyes, I've actually had better success on Rapid using a 6:00 hold so I can still see my sights against a non-black bac...

Re: "Sensive" Trigger Blades for Air Pistol?
I have been meaning to organize & distribute a lot of my shooting related 3D files, but haven't gotten around to it. I want to make both STL & STEP files available in case people need to tweak the designs. I'm not sure if I can post the files directly due to restrictions on files types that ...

Re: Sensive Trigger on Morini 162 E
I would never put an angled trigger on any of my pistols. It just doesn't make sense from a physics standpoint. You might get away with it on a much heavier rifle with a very light trigger pull, but any force applied sideways to a pistol (which an angled trigger will do) is asking for trouble. I hav...

Re: 10m air pistol
One problem with the square front sight approach is that it requires a fairly deep rear notch. Depending on how "sub" your sub-six hold is, you may find that the bottom of the target is visible in the notch on both sides of the front sight. I ran into this on one pistol a year or two ago, ...

Re: Hammerli 208s - problem with a trigger pull weight consistency
The first thing that comes to mind is that the sear engagement may be marginal. A little bit of wear & dirt could make it erratic. It certainly wouldn't hurt to clean & lubricate everything carefully. Although it usually causes erratic increases in trigger pull, I'd also check the trigger st...

The TenP files may help: http://www.pilkguns.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Haemmerlix-esse.pdf The diagram appears to be a foldout that they only scanned part of, but the parts you are interested in are shown. The spring is a couple turns of fine wire with the ends sticking out parallel. Good luck!
