Re: Morini 162 MI fires when closing lever
David M has it right. The sear can wear over time and lose reliable engagement, or it may have been set too close to start with. It's an easy fix if you know what you are doing. The typical recommendation is to cock the pistol, and slowly reduce the sear engagement until it JUST fires. Then increase...

M1963: Thanks for the info. I suspected that might be the case. I can at least complain to PayPal. I may not get my money back, but they can shut his account down which will (hopefully) inconvenience and annoy him.

Re: Spotting Scammers
The dust hasn't settled yet, but it looks like I got bagged by Rockgeo. I've generally found competitive shooters to be as honest & honorable as they come, but that lulled me into a false sense of security. What I don't understand is why this guy is still on the forum with PM privileges after be...

Re: Air Pistol and the 11 ring
The standard air pistol configuration of the SIUS electronic target system we use produces results that include "10" and "10x" for shot values. This is actually a pain in the neck, because we have to report the match results to SASP in a spreadsheet as 10's and X's separately. I ...

Re: Over filling cylinder
The only other Morini cylinder failure I'm aware of occurred about 5 years ago. Lab analysis blamed the failure on the owner's use of chlorinated gun solvents on the cylinder. There were scratches in the anodizing, and the chlorinated solvents attacked the aluminum through the scratches. I believe t...

Re: Over filling cylinder
I believe you can buy "adapters plugs" that allow you to bypass the deeper thread safety feature. Their mere existence strikes me as an accident waiting to happen.

Re: Over filling cylinder
Hopefully more details will come out in time. The text on the cylinder and the logo on the pressure gauge look a lot like it was a Morini. The local SCUBA shop thinks they are doing us a favor by filling our tanks to 230 Bar. We have a hard time convincing them to ONLY fill our tanks to 200 bar. Tha...

Re: gip putty or bondo
Anyone who has bought a new grip from Rink knows they arrive freshly oiled, and will stain anything they touch for a while. I wrap them in paper towels held on with rubber bands for a few days until they stop staining the towels. A quick flush with alcohol on the area to be puttied helps, and the st...

Re: Cleaning My Pardini SP for the first time
It sounds like things are covered on YouTube. I made up a set of SP cleaning videos for the collegiate team I help coach, and have them posted there as well. Unfortunately, the university's lawyers won't let me make them public until I put a legal disclaimer on them. I need to figure out my video ed...

Re: US Source for Metric Polyurethane O-rings?
With 16 Kites to keep running, I believe a little over-thinking is in order. If it was my pistol, I'd just grab my best guess from McMaster and be prepared to replace it occasionally. I asked Parker's tech support for the best trade-off between material & hardness for readily available O-rings, ...

Re: US Source for Metric Polyurethane O-rings?
I've been dealing with O-rings off & on for about 50 years, starting when I worked on oceanographic instrumentation in college. Between material, hardness & size, there are a lot of variables. I contacted Parker, who makes all the O-rings & seals for Benellis. There's a major distributor...

Re: US Source for Metric Polyurethane O-rings?
eBay lists lots of polyurethane O-rings, but if you add 2mm to the search, it comes up empty. Most of the ones they sell are by application, and aren't listed by size. Those that are listed are almost all English dimensions.

US Source for Metric Polyurethane O-rings?
I'm working on rebuilding a bunch of Benelli Kite air pistols. The college team I help coach has 16 of them, and over half have sprung leaks. I have information on the size of the various seals. Some are nitrile rubber, which I can get in metric sizes from McMaster Carr. Others are polyurethane, spe...

Re: Morini CM84E Compensator Comparisons
That's exactly what I did. Mine arrived with the sight mount forward, and when I discovered how badly it fouled & how hard is was to clean, I decided to scoot it back to flush.

Re: Morini CM84E Compensator Comparisons
The one caution I would have is that compensators tend to collect powder fouling and deposits of lead. They can be difficult to clean without removing the compensator. That means minor sight adjustments are often required when you put them back on. Some people have reported good results by coating t...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
I have two, and my wife has one. My first one has had a lot of issues, and I've been working with the US importer to help figure how how to fix things. The second one I have has always worked great, and that's the one I compete with. I've also helped a couple local shooters with some problems after ...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
The problem with having the slide lock on the left is that the impact of the slide wants to unscrew it. I'm right handed, and I've actually found it easier to move it to the right side, where I can operate it with my index finger. That also avoids the unscrewing problem (although I still put LocTite...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
One issue I've had on a couple of them is that the screws that hold the side weights come loose. Threadlocking compound is definitely useful there. I I used LocTite Blue (#242), and they've been fine since.

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Glad it was that simple! I had the entire sight loosen up a couple times until I put very mild threadlocking compound on the screw that holds it to the frame. It doesn't sound like you've shot it enough yet for things to shoot loose.
