MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
I've been promising this one for a while. I originally created it as a 3 video playlist, only I wanted to park it under my overall MG2 playlist. Apparently you can't nest playlists in YouTube without 3rd party software (at least I couldn't find a way to do it). As result, the 3 videos on maintaining...

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
The bullet height fixture is a lot more complicated. You need to machine a metal bar that fits into the magazine catch slot, or you won't have a consistent reference point for the height measurements. That fixture does have the button accessible for the reason you stated. I would tip the magazine wi...

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
It never occurred to me that anyone would need to access the follower button when the magazine is in the fixture. I don't think you can get the follower button down far enough to remove it while the magazine is in the fixture, and if you could, it would likely damage the follower when it shot up to ...

Re: MG4 double fire
My understanding is that they are undergoing some high level ownership reorganization. It is likely that support staffing may be sporadic until the dust settles.

Re: MG4 double fire
If you want to try different recoil springs (and they are available), it helps if you can figure out what you've got. You need the length (which is easy), the outside diameter (easy), the number of turns and the wire diameter. The number of turns can be a little tricky. I made up a template to make ...

Re: MG4 double fire
It sounds like you may be able to fix it with the right ammo. If you can find some... The MG2 manual also only list the recoil springs with the one part number (2014). There is no indication in the manual I have that there are different strengths avaiIable. I would contact the factory and ask them w...

Re: MG4 double fire
Now that I've had my morning caffeine and thinking some more about it, I'm not convinced it's a trigger adjustment issue. The only time I've had doubling in my MG2's is when I've had light recoiling ammo, or my recoil springs were too stiff. If the slide doesn't come back far enough to cock the hamm...

Re: MG4 double fire
If the MG2 uses the same trigger design as the MG4, there is an excellent video on setting up the trigger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8t-aZfyx3A Once you get the grip off and watch the video so you understand how it works, you should be able to see if the engagement between the release levers ...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Extractor Maintenance
I'm still figuring out YouTube details... There are two videos. The one on extractors is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoIZJ1Yvgh0 The second one on dealing with the recoil springs is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSeTwaDPHUs The "playlist" that gets you to both of them is: https://w...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Extractor Maintenance
I've added a second short video with a few tips on dealing with the recoil springs & guide rods. I have another video planned on removing and cleaning the carrier/elevator, so I've created a playlist for all my MG2 videos: https://studio.youtube.com/playlist/PL0ol-9AwXI2XPof4D5rT4vZ1BwdNMPPeU I ...

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
One thing I discovered the hard way is that you should NOT attempt to adjust the shape of the metal magazine lips. I have been thinking about trying that, but was concerned that the metal might be brittle from work hardening during the forming process. I accidentally knocked one of mine off my work ...

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
Spare followers are hard to come by, so you want to be nice to them. I've considered trying to 3D print them, but I'd have to change the design in places and probably cut the offset groove on my mill as a post-processing step.

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
The one thing that more upward force near the back will do is wear out your followers faster. The follower wants to hold the back of the rounds offset to the right, but the top of the magazines wants to hold them centered. When the last round is being fed, those two argue, and the left side of the o...

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
Interesting idea. Thanks! I collected data on a lot of the various springs I encountered. There a huge range of lengths, number of turns and wire size. Most of them are 9 1/2 turns: 12-10-22 Mag Spring Turns Count.JPG That means the ends are parallel. I also found quite a few where they had an even ...

MatchGun MG2 Extractor Maintenance
A local shooter bought an MG2, and has been shooting is successfully for about a year. He reported that he had started getting jams occasionally, and that the problem got better after he flushed the extractor area. However, it was still acting up, just less frequently. I suggested that he take the e...

Re: Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
Collegiate pistol is all .22, and I've never seen the need for another caliber in my own shooting to want to mess with the .32. I suspect the .32 will behave a bit more consistently because the rim is much smaller compared to the cartridge diameter, and the dimensions are better controlled. The wadc...

Benelli .22 Magazine Maintenance
Between the college team I help coach and my own two MP90S's, I have roughly 50 Benelli magazines to take care of. After solving some of the mysterious jam problems being caused by overly long firing pins, the team still has some pistols that are less reliable than others. I think a lot of that is d...

Re: How far back should the trigger be
Trigger width tends to vary quite a bit from manufacturer to manufacturer. The standard Steyr air pistol trigger is actually a bit wider than the pictures show, but Morini triggers are a bit more narrow and rounded on the front. I've lost a lot of the sensitivity in my finger tip over the years, and...

Re: How far back should the trigger be
Step 1: Ignore Rover... Step 2: Make sure you are placing your finger on the trigger correctly. For precision shooting, you want to locate the "pad" near the tip of your finger on the trigger. This is the most sensitive part of your finger. trigger-contact.jpg Step 3: There is a "prop...

Re: Scuba tank setup for air pistol cylinder refills
There are several issues with fiber tanks vs SCUBA tanks. The inspection schedule & life are different, and the higher pressure rating of SCBA tanks needs to be dealt with carefully. SCUBA tanks can re-tested & recertified pretty much forever. Most dive shops require an annual internal inspe...
