Re: PCP air compressor recommendation

No offense to our host, but their selection of fill gear is somewhat limited. There are a couple of things to consider: 1) Used tanks are often available cheap, but they will need to be hydrotested. Check to see how much that will cost at a local dive shop. The dive shops may also have used tanks, w...

Re: Caring for an MG2E

I will try to put together a quick rundown on removing the carrier. I should have some time over the holidays to piece something together, and I already have photos of some of the details. As long as you don't run into anything odd, it's not too tricky.

Re: Caring for an MG2E

To really clean things, you need to remove the carrier. I would like to make a video on that process, but haven't had the time. If you aren't comfortable dealing with fiddly little mechanical parts, I wouldn't recommend trying it without some guidance.

Re: Caring for an MG2E

Good luck. I know nothing about how the electronic versions work. The MG2's cycle faster than any pistol I've ever shot, and that means the the powder doesn't have time to burn very completely. The result is a lot of of fouling, and as you've discovered, a good bit of it tends to fall down into the ...

Re: PCP air compressor recommendation

The Hill compressor looks pretty well thought out, but compressors & pumps take maintenance. The drying system on the pump is a pain to keep fresh, and it looks like the compressor uses the same system, requiring regular changes to the dry pak filter. Scuba tanks are a hassle, but for the expens...

Re: Morini 162EI won’t fire or dry fire

The label on my switch was put on the side facing the battery holders, so I couldn't read it very well. What I thought was an "N" is an "H". SH is apparently Chinese (no big surprise). You can buy them direct off of eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/364026041609 I think the ones Mor...

Re: BANJO MUSIC ?!?!?

An acquaintance from many years ago played in an orchestra. They would travel around during the summer, and one of their signature pieces was the 1812. They brought their own small black powder cannons. I forget if they flew or went by bus, but because of limits on how much black powder an individua...

Re: Morini 162EI won’t fire or dry fire

I took a quick look at mine (which is close to 25 years old), and it's a pretty odd part. It's smaller than most (8mm x 5 mm body, viewed from the top), with an all plastic housing and no threaded mounting sleeve. There is a stylized "S" followed by an "N" logo I've never seen be...

Re: Front Sight / Grip Inconsistency

Your muscles may be tiring and/or stretching, shifting your natural point of aim. If they are tiring, you need to work on endurance. If they are stretching, you need to stretch out the affected muscles before you start shooting.

Re: Morini 162EI won’t fire or dry fire

The chemicals in alkaline batteries are bases, so an acid (like vinegar) will help to neutralize it and prevent further corrosion. Although Morini does a good job of coating the board, I would never dunk an assembly like that. The vinegar could get into the switch, the big inductor, and the little s...

Re: Morini 162EI won’t fire or dry fire

I finally remembered to take pictures of the string board-extraction loop I have been putting on our Morinis. The college team I help coach has six 162EI's, and every time I work on one, I add the string if it doesn't have one. The string is just one from the repair tags we have lots of. It's about ...

How Many Benelli Kite Owners Out There?

I am slowly putting together repair info for the Kites used by the college team I help coach. I've collected a fairly complete list of all the seals they use, including the Parker part numbers for the more exotic ones. I don't know the hardness of some of the regular Nitrile O-rings, but I'm working...

Re: Morini 162EI won’t fire or dry fire

One problem with the 162EI is that a fair amount of force can often be required to change the batteries, which can flex the board. We have some with Rink grips, and I've had to whittle the inner compartment so that you can get the board out without a scary amount of force. The spring clips that hold...

Re: Over filling cylinder

Nice! This one has three adjustment ranges (possibly a regulator spring swap?). If you pick the one that has a 200 bar maximum, nobody could adjust it higher (by accident or intentionally). Because it has a 300 DIN fitting on the output side, you would need one of the dreaded adapter rings to use it...

Re: Over filling cylinder

I've often thought that somebody SHOULD make a small, non-adjustable 200 bar "safety" regulator that you could use with higher pressure tanks. I suspect a lot of the cost of the one from Best Fittings is the two high quality gauges, which are a good idea anyway. Combined with a flow restri...

Re: Over filling cylinder

Best Fittings in England sells one, but it costs an arm and leg: https://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shop/airgun-charging-equipment/cylinder-accessories/7000-pressure-regulator-kit-for-nitrogen-high-pressure-air/ The "full kit" is 350 Pounds. You CAN safely fill a 200 bar cylinder from a 300 ba...

Re: Filling PCP air pistol with N2?

I don't think it will be an issue. Standard pressure for a big tank is 200 bar, so it's safe in that regard. I coach at a college, and I've occasionally thought it might be easier to get a big nitrogen tank delivered through the chemistry department supply chain than to deal with going to the local ...
