I was told that the Izhmash factory in Russia is in the process or reorganizing (their version of chapter 11 bankruptcy). Until that process is complete there will be no more exports to the US. It didn't sound like that would be anytime soon, later this fall at the earliest. Last I heard Altius had ...

Well done guys, this is a positive development for the sport of biathlon. Unfortunately at times the high cost of equipment has scared people away from getting involved. This is a really nice price point for entry to the sport. Several people in our club here have used the Savage rifles, and for the...

You are correct, the only bad thing about this otherwise amazing sport is that it can be costly. I think most clubs try to do a good job providing equipment for beginners. The Marwe 610's for years have been wide regarded as the best, in my opinion they are worth the investment. Unlike snow skis you...

I have never seen a bloop tube in biathlon, which then leads me to the conclusion that:

1. They are not legal

2. They do not work

If they were legal and did make a difference, then everyone would be using them.

I think your son would be better off listening to the coach. It is important to learn the correct methods and techniques early on, rather than just doing it your own way. There will similarities between biathlon shooting and other shooting disciplines, but there will be subtle differences as well.

Re: Izhmash Rifle

Do you know if the problems arise out of the action bedding in the stock or is it something else. It has to do the with materials composition of the barrel and not with the bedding. At least that was how it was explained to me several years ago. Any Izhmash you see on the World Cup level will have ...
