I have a FWB P44 and have dry fired many thousands of times with no problems.

I also have a small hand and have installed Rink size small grips. I prefer the Rink grips to Morini, but it may be different for you.

Enjoy your pistol

The biggest advantage Thomas Rink has is his CAD system - he can digitize any grip and copy it to other pistols. Some conversions obviously don't work because of the frames. But the Steyr grip I'm shooting is a Rink copy of my Cesare Morini MG2 grip, and about 95% the same - a ratio which would be ...

My normal AP practice consists of firing 2-3 sighters, then 20 shots for score. I try to do this 4-5 nights/week. Yes, I probably should push to 30-shot sessions. When training with the pistol (as distinct from PT such as holding exercises) I try to shoot at least as many shots dry fire (at a blank...

That's good news. I learned to shoot Bullseye at the Harvard Pistol Club and spent many a happy hour at the range. That was when 22LR ammo was $0.25/box :-)

I started with a Ruger, then moved up to a M41 which I shot for many many years. A friend had a used Pardini for sale at a good price, and I bought it. Never went back to the M41. I thought the M41 was a good gun until I started shooting the European guns.

Personally, I think that the horizontal distance between hand and chamber is more important than the vertical distance between bore axis and hand. Most pistols that are known to be "forgiving" (if there is such a thing) have the mag in the grip, like the H208 or the FAS 602/607. The Toz, ...

Since you are thinking about playing with your sights, you might also consider changing the front sight width and/or the rear blade aperture.

Why do you think the sights are limiting your ability to improve, rather than some other factor like hold or triggering?

Re: Mastering Free Pistol

I am attempting to break my 480 Plateau in FP and was looking for some advice. Firstly what type of ammunition is best - speed? I'm currently using Lapua Pistol King but have some Center-X available or should I be using RWS R50 or R100 (a rifle round?). Are there any particular training exercises a...

Re: Cleaning a pardini sp

Thank you!! I have been told to use mineral spirits as a cleaner by the people at Larry's guns? Also to use break free as a lubricant. What about the barrel? Is it ok to use a brass brush? Any lube in it. Really thankful for any further imput. The Pardini is a great pistol I won't need to ever up g...

Screw 'em both and get yourself a single stroke pneumatic and forget all the problems and cost connected with refills. The old FWB 65s are pretty good, too.
Right on :-) I love my FWB103

In case B the rear sight is closer to the eye and is behaving more like a peep sight. I in order to maintain the same degree of alignment of the front blade in the rear notch, the notch in case B would have to be narrower. For a given sight radius and lighting situation, I suspect there is an optimu...

Iris Use

Packard, you do not want to use an iris to bring both front sight and target into focus. With a proper lens the front sight will be sharp and clear and the target will be blurred. Your physical and mental focus should be on the front sight and its alignment in the rear notch. An in focus bull is a d...

Pardini

I have a Pardini .22 and it requires little cleaning - after a match (90 shots) I use a tooth brush to clean the bolt face, extractor and breech. Take a .25 cal bronze brush and bend the tip 90 deg. the length of the short leg should be no longer than a 22 case. Use this to clean the chamber, then a...

Alan,
Thanks for the details on preparing a scaled down dry fire target. I made one and have been using it for the past several weeks. An excellent supplement to dry firing at plain paper.

Yes, Larry is an excellent shot. I find a good compromise with my IZH is 7.88 grain Beeman Tropy. Its round nose (should) provide better ballistics than wadcutters at longer ranges. I say should because I have never measured their velocity at long ranges. JSB Exact Express has a similar pellet at no...

Re: Newbie to pistol Silhouette

I'm currently using .177 8.3 grn pellets in the 470 FPS range. When shooting indoors would I be better off with a 7.0 grn pellet? If so why? I prefer shooting AP Silhouette with 7 gr pellets (Hobby, Meisterkugeln, R-10) because of the higher velocity and flatter trajectory. With my particular setup...

Anybody here have a K58 and what pellets their gun likes. Right now I am using JB exacts 7.9. Running low -leftover from my air rifle ammo. Should I buy a sampler tin. David F P.S.--Can't stop shooting the K58. I can do well from a bench but stand up looks like I have an earthquake in my wrist and ...

Can't resist putting in my 2 cents :-) I have a FWB P44 and a 103. I like them both and shoot both in matches. If anything, the 103 has a slightly better trigger. The removable cocking lever makes it feel much like the P44. BTW, no one who knows how the cocking lever works would ever 'launch one dow...
