I have been using a Truglow red dot for the any sight class. This red dot has 2x magnification - just enough to get a better picture of that little chicken, but not so much that the wobble drives you crazy. Best of all, it's only $90. My scores went up 7-8 points when I switched from a plain red dot...

Have you tried?

I found what appear to be two men's names in the USAS Sport Pistol on-line ranking.

Does anyone think WD-40 would not be a reasonable choice as a general purpose cleaner on a pistol? I don't think it is a reasonable choice. It dries to a gummy film that will attract dirt, powder debris, etc. It is formulated as rust preventative with some lubricating properties. I use it keep tool...

I had an opportunity to examine an Irosa comp at a match Sunday. It is very easy to disassemble for cleaning. It is very long. The 'Top Ten' brand pictured appears to be identical to the new Morini long compensator. Like Mark, I have found that comps are easier to clean if kept 'wet' with CLP or sim...

If you know the name of the seminar/person giving it, please publish it to keep new shooters from being misinformed. Sounds like like some of the bad stuff I was told when I first learned to shoot a pistol.

I'm going to have to look at my free pistol and see what is on there. It's harder to get to. Hi Ben. My CM84E just stopped working and I was forced to clean it for the first time. Lots of gunk, especially in the bolt, causing the firing pin to stick. As a result, I've decided to do it on an annual ...

I second James' advice. While I have used steel dental picks ocassionally, it is very risky business. Good solvent, wooden picks, nylon bushes, and Q-tips will do the job almost every time. For very difficult situations I have fashioned, and use, brass picks and scrapers.

I had a Toz with a Rink grip and sold it after two years. I have short fingers and could not comfortably manage the trigger. I now have a Morini CM84E with medium Rink and a Pardini K22 with small Rink grips. Both fit me well.

Here is a quote from Antal's Competitive Pistol Shooting "For a powerful grip it is also vital that the wrist be held straight; in effect, this lengthens the flexor muscles. The dropped wrist position used with free pistols gives stability at the cost of a weakened grip. With a light trigger th...

Go with the 686. It is more durable and will hold up to full loads better than the model 67. If you haven't been shooting a 67 or 66, the weight difference won't be a factor. With standard 38 spl, or even +P, the K frame will go for a long long time. I have shot both 66 and 686 for many years and t...

Re: S&W Model 67 4" vs Model 686 4"

As an Australian shooter about to take up our club's Practical Pistol match ( holster draw and shoot from 7 yds, 15yds & 20 yds ) and also possibly Service Pistol at a later stage, I cannot decide between the 4" model 67 or 4" 686. Any noteworthy benefits for either? Only reasonably m...

No. I find that I get better balance, less sway, if my hips and shoulders are lined up with my feet. My feet are ~ 45 deg as are my body and hips. I swivel only my head toward the target. My face is not exactly square to the target i.e. my eyes are not quite centered.

In my original post I mentioned that the position of the palm rest on the Morini grip of my LP5 is a big factor in maintaining my wrist alignment. My hand size falls in between Small and Medium. At the moment I'm using a small grip with the palm rest moved as low as it will go. The "heel"...

Steve, How much of a "sag" is considered enough? If I would pull up to the bottom of the black in Free and then drop to a sub 6 area of aim, is that enough or do I need to go higher? Thanks! Ben I've been trying to experiment with that. The distance is set by the rate at which you are app...

Re: More ClearsighT

Fred mentions using 23 mm Knobloch lenses... Fred, does that create a loose fit or do you file off some of the circumference? I filed off some of the circumference. Also, some of the old B&L loupes had a set screw fastening system that allows use of a Varga lens holder, allowing use of either 2...

One of the sources for the origninal frame that pops up is Cas-Ker Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. I've also wondered whether the double version, the Eyeglass Loupe Behr Model 55 Double , would work for incorporating the iris and lens into a single unit, but haven't gotten around to giving it a try. the bottom photo looks ok. maybe? The pictures all show the same grip, same hand. So if it is OK in one picture, why is it 'maybe' in another? The size of our hand changes day to day, depending on temperature, what you have eaten, etc. I think the rule should be enforced at equipment control, suppl...
