Maybe compressed air is out and I should just go get an Izzy... I should not have sold my FWB 65 to fund my P34... :( Don't be too sure about that. The new manufacturers rules are said to apply to CO2 cylinders as well as CA. CO2 pressures are much lower - about 60 bar - and are similar to the pres...

Hi Ken, Sounds like you're on to something! If dry fire is going well, then it sounds like you have good trigger control working for you. But, when dry firing we all know the gun won't go "bang". With the live/dummy drill that's not the case. I've found that just getting set up on the ran...

Consequences

And no consequences for manufacturers who sell cylinders that fail because of a lack of appropriate quality control.

Chris,
If you want a beautiful, top quality gun, why not the engraved LP1 that Pilkington has for sale? IMHO, as nice looking as the gold LP10 pictured, and in the opinion of many a better shooting pistol than the LP10.

Re: Larry's Guns?

You might try International Shooters Service, Brenzovich (FWB products), Champion's Choice, Neal Johnson Gunsmithing for the other brands. I believe Larry is the only distributor for Pardini pistols in the U.S. Larry is a shooter, gunsmith, business man - in that order. IMHO, he can be difficult to ...

So there are no expiry dates on my cylinders, there is no expiry in my manual, so again what is my actual expiry date? If you say 10 years please provide where it says that in some form of legal context, because in the rule of law if its not in writing it really doesn't exist. "in the rule of ...

Re: Prescription lenses

I'm new to this forum. I shoot mainly IHMSA silhouette, but thought some of you Bullseye guys could help me. I need someone to put my distance prescription, along with a 1.25 diopter addition, into a round lens that will fit into my Knoblach shooting glasses Does anyone know who might could do this...

Re: Switching Brands of .22 Ammo Between SF, TF or RF

Does anyone use a strategy to shoot a particular brand of .22lr ammo for Slow-Fire and then switch to another brand for Timed & Rapid Fire strings? .... I'm mainly referring to indoor 50' .22 gallery match competition. .... I'd be curious to know. Some switch ammo for their 45 between long line...

I just got back from Germany, where I was at several of the airgun factories as well as the IWK match in Munich. I for one am extremely pleased to hear of this rule. I think it is best for the good of the sport, both the safety of the users and match organizers. I have been researching this issue f...

Muffo wanted the information so that he could practice a 10 ring hold :-)

Re: Red Dot Sights

Hello, I am just getting into Bullseye Shooting and am in the market to buy a Red Dot Sight. The gun shop I've been visiting is suggesting an 30mm UltraDot, but it’s more expensive than others I've seen. I will buy it if it offers a "better chance" to shoot well [I realize no sight can ov...

Quite right, Richard. If Anschutz had had in place a program to test their cylinders before shipment, they wouldn't be faced with the present recall situation. It is a problem of their own making.

My personal view is that the ISSF have (quite reasonably) taken steps to remind shooters that cylinders can be dangerous. Match organisers may take the view that, as the possibility of problems has been raised, they have a duty of care to everyone in the vicinity and should therefore carry out the ...

On the Other Hand

Here is a different perspective from Edster99, published in a similar thread last tyear: Based on a few years exerience dealing with large numbers of scuba cylinders its certainly the case that if they dont suffer from internal corrosion they will last indefinitely. Generally test pressure is set at...

Refutation accepted :-)

Given Anschutz' statement, and assuming that the other cylinder manufacturers use similar designs, I can accept 10 years as a reasonable cylinder life.

10 years seems to be a standard time frame for most pressurised things, like gas tanks for cars and bbqs ect What makes 10 years "a standard time"? Different 'pressurized things' have different internal pressures, materials of construction, working environments, etc. At $175 per cylinder ...

Ten Year Old Cylinder Rule

This has been mentioned a few times now as one of the new for 2009 ISSF rules. I don't yet have a copy of the new rules, so have not read it, but does it allow for for cylinders that have been hydrostaticaly tested and passed. like SCBA tanks? If not, it is another great example of ISSF not caring a...

And - to repeat myself, even of some shooters here aren't happy about it - why don't you invest a minimum of time in reading the TT archives first, instead of expecting other people to do your work for you? This topic has been discussed to hell and back. If you should happen to have a specific ques...
