I can't tell you what you are supposed to do, but I'll tell you what I do: I put it where it feels comfortable, and I make sure it stays there throughout the corse of fire. I have a hook, which usually means it is on my shoulder and not close to my neck. I usually stress consistency. Pick something,...

Mike, You are right about it not counting... My point is that who cares if it counts until you are at that level when it will make a difference. When you are at a level capable of shooting a record score, you should be shooting at a range that is equiped. That is to say - those serious enough and sk...

I agree that the cost to convert ranges to a true "international" setup would be extremely expensive. However - I don't think that it is necessary for EVERY range in the US to be outfitted as such. Only nationals would require a range like that. Everyone else would be content shooting on t...

Re: separate governing body?

PETE S wrote:Who has the real interest & money & credentials to set up a new governing body?
How about the NRA?! I think they have more than enough interest and money - as for the credentials, they have done it in the past.

That's kinda my point. The NRA does NOT currently do what USAS does - but if it did, I believe that it would be better. I am not old enough to remember what it was like when the NRA did run the national team - but people have told me that it was a better situation.

The problem (or solution, as I look at it) is the NRA. The NRA provides a much easier, friendlier place to shoot for most people getting into shooting. There are far more matches at cheaper prices. Membership also gives you something in return. They are more organized. They run a tighter ship. That ...

I'll clean my Win 52B every 2-3 months - but cleaning for me is a Bore Snake with a few dabs of oil on the tail, once through. I have found that my rifle shoots better when it is a little dirty, so I don't like to excessively clean it.

BTW - the Bore Snake is the greatest invention ever made.

Canadian Airgun Grand Prix

Who's shooting the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix this year?

I will be there, and I won't have any equipment problems either - so look out!

Please help

I just recieved this email from a former member of the team: To the Rifle Community: As many as you know and perhaps some who do not, Xavier University has announced it will cease its sponsorship of rifle after this season. A petition has been created to express our support of the team and ask Xavie...

I heard that every department had to make "sacrifices" in order to make room in the budget for a new building. So why did the athletic department offer up the whole shooting program as the sacrifice? I understand the associated costs of the scholarships, but that aside, can't they cut mone...

I also know of NO reasonably accurate smallbore rifles, with target / aperture sights that are also under $500. Sorry, but I don't think you can get there from here. Mike Wichita KS Who said it had to be new? Look around for a used target rifle. I'm sure that you can find a useable rifle for under ...

I bought the cheapest scope that champion's choice was selling at the time - a Simmons - and for $139, it works great for 10m-50m. And you can get the whole 10 bull AR target in it.

I agree with the "just shoot" advice. If shooting on a diagonal is going to throw your "mental" game off, then maybe you should be putting more work into your mental game instead of worrying about getting a few more feet out of your garage.

I am going to be the only one that disagrees with Hans??? Paintball does NOT cost that much to get into - nor does SBR. Many kids get into paintball with a $200 - $300 gun, and about $100 in accessories. Throw in $40 for a case of paintballs, and you are having a good time in the woods. That's not t...

I just sent a request to the NRA to hold an International AR Sectional in Buffalo, NY. I haven't heard back from them, but since there isn't one anywhere else in 6 hours driving, I am assuming that they will approve me. There just aren't enough AR matches, so I thought I would hold my own!

TWP, I think you are right about supporting the High School teams. As has been mentioned before, there used to be an abundance of HS teams, and now the numbers are dwindling. These teams are a great way to get intrest in the sport from kids that don't come from a shooting lineage. And an opportunity...
