Re: Loading from the shoulder - Anschutz 54.3 versus Wal KK5

i think this may wander a little away from the original question but it is very good to see rifles that do not require undue contortions or pulling the rifle out of the shoulder to load. Most people will benefit from the loading port location. It is almost as painful to watch a junior load a 1907.

Re: Loading from the shoulder - Anschutz 54.3 versus Wal KK5

I have been present when two different shooters tried a kk500 for the first time. One shooter is over 6 foot and one was female. Both have to move an anschutz 19 series to load, including picking up the elbow. Neither had to move much to load the kk500. It was very interesting to watch both of them ...

Re: What's the problem with 4-H?

I will third the statements about Joel, his input as well as cobelties are on target. I have also been involved in the 4h world. In general the 4h is much like any other activity, it is what you make of it. We had 3 kids at JOS over a couple of year stretch and 4h proved to be a valuable tool to hel...

Re: Cutting gloves?

You will definitely need to stitch them up. Probably restich before they wear out. Works fine.

achiever

"I've done a little research on the Achiever and I intend to makes some calls about it on Monday (Neal Stepp etc). I read where it has a 5066 trigger and the 1903 action is supposed to be nicer, I also saw where a heavy barrel was once made, but I didn't find much more than that. My search here...

rattle

maybe the recoil dampener has come apart. Read the section of the manual where it addresses the dampener function. I believe it discussed adjustment there. I adjusted mine and accidently went too far. It rattled after that. Mine went back together fine.

backstop material

I played with a couple of materials. 1050D ballistic nylon seems to work for errant shots. You can get swatches from various suppliers if you want to do some testing. The link below will also sew it together to give you really wide cloth. http://shop.skinboats.com/1050-Ballistic-Nylon-67-wide-1050ba...

P700 Dry Fire Problem

My daughter is having a problem with her P700. The sear releases occasionally when she goes from dry fire to fire. I can't really get it to repeat but I have seen it happen to her. She fully opens the cocking lever and then when she moves the dry fire switch the cocking lever jumps forward just like...

Paschal High and Western Hills in Fort Worth are jrotc programs.
I believe Arlington has a high school with a program.
A couple of counties around the area have active air rifle shooters.
I am sure I have missed some. I can dig up contact info on the above if you need it.

Bloop tube cleaning

What is the best way to clean a bloop tube? Does it need to be cleaned after every session? I heard a rumor that condensation can form in the tube. I dont see that in indoor ranges in conditioned space. I saw someone at nationals with a drill and a mandrill with some kind of cloth. He worked at clea...

My daughter just went through exactly the same thing. She was having front end weight problems with a 1813. We ended up sending it to Mac Tilton of MT Guns to be shortened. We shortened it 10" and added a 10" bloop tube. We did not clamp it up before and after for a real accuracy test. We ...

I had a idea of an easier solution and another problem. An easy solution is to put a 10 mm standard riser on the action and then stack another 8 mm riser on top. the top one needs to be about 4 inches long. A problem exists at the 18 mm height where the bolt barely touches the windage knob. Possible...

Rear sight location changes on a Walther KK100

I would like to move the rear sight rearward on a KK100. My daughter shoots with a 18mm riser and I have milled the overhanging portion to clear the bolt and allow the sight to be moved rearward. It works fine but the riser is only about 2.5" long. I really need about 4" to get rid of the ...

placement points

Thanks for that explaination. We are headed to state soon. It seems like that is something that is important to know when deciding on iron sights or scoped classes that are part of overall awards. It seems like it is most important to shoot in the largest classes available. One could win a small cla...

753 Accuracy

We have a couple of the CMP Avanti 753 refurbs that the girls are shooting in 4H. We have one set up for Sporter and one set up for silhouette with a Scope. I was playing with the scoped rifle at 33 feet last night off of a front bag. It shoots 10's. The second rifle seems to shoot well also. I have...
