Manurhin Model 73 Barrel Length

Hi,

Newbie question how many of use a Manurhin revolver (model 73) for centre fire pistol and what is the most common/ appropriate barrel length. Guess the 38 special would be the cartridge being used.

How much do you shoot?

As i have said before I am very new to this sport. Watching some of the state team guys practice has got me scared. They seem to shoot all day with .22 pistols. Course most are participating in sport or standard pistol. They are practicing for the Nationals but it may as well be for the Olympics the...

Made it through the state competition

Just an update to let you know that I made it to the zonals. Using my friend's pistol and guidance. I was two points short but I was given a wild card entry by my state.

Would like to report that positive thinking and attitude does work. :-)
Best wishes,

Case catcher

Hi Leon,

My friend has the case catcher and I think I will use it for the next match and see. Course I am still miles away from being able to my hands on my own firearm.

Revolver

Without sounding too big for my boots as I haven't shot centre fire that much, I like James's reply. I agree with what you have said David but the worry about the empties is a big one, as we buy cartridges from the state shooting body before a match and they are very zealous in getting them back and...

Center Fire pistol

Thank you for replying. Most of the people who compete at our range use walther gsps. There is nothing else to be seen. I just hate the hassle of scrambling for the empties at the end of a match and the ugliness that follows.

Center Fire pistol

Hi,

How many people use a revolver in this sport and what other cal than the .32.
I have just begun to shoot it and was wondering about the memory I had of a gent using a revolver in this sport.

Wealth of information

Two years ago when I decided to compete in Standard Pistol, a friend told me that the sights should be aligned at the ready position. I tried this but it makes my eyes go crazy, due to progressive glasses and all. Then I read here about aligning the sights after the lift while keeping the head in th...

BB pistol as practice too for standard pistol?

Imagine that you can't lay your hands on a standard pistol due to a ban on imports and a strict licensing policy. But you have a .177, blowback airpistol...would using it help getting the timing and alignment for standard pistol? I would be using it at about seven meters. Don't ask about the trigger...

Re: Mea Culpa

Yes that was a typo on my part. Though a hundred to two hundred lifts a day are within the doable area. Warm Regards, Dev P.S. I really would like to do five hundred lifts in a day, just to know how it feels, will do it next month when I have spare hours. 1 it doesn't have to be all in one session ...

Thank you.

Daniel SWE,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. 1500 lifts in a month? PSHEW :-). Will have to carry my air pistol to work to do that.

Very inspiring film. Just put me out of the misery of trying to find the time to go to a range.

Thank you.

I hadn't thought as deeply.

Thank you Yana and V76 for all of your replies. David and Lastman really made me rethink on my objective. I now think it is a stability issue. I will go through the exercises outlined by V76, Lastman had been very kind by guiding me to a practice routine last year. Really helped me to improve. Warm ...

Sniping

Hi Gerard, Man I wish i could see the target at ten meters. My eyes just can't so its going to be fuzzy target and slightly less fuzzy sights for me. I did work hard to try to do a coming down on the sub six and automatically doing the trigger as the ideal sight picture appeared. Froze up on a tourn...

Hold?

What are the favourite 'Shaolin' techniques that you (head abbots of shooting) advocate to improve one's hold? Some of us hold up a half brick, a 2 kg dumbell for 30 secs (repeat ten times) or hold up an air pistol. Or does doing light weights for the shoulder, lat and tricep work faster? Warm Regar...

Nice work

Very nice inputs. I must learn not to let the eye travel between target and sights. The Carlos Casteneda stuff bought back memories, specially about the inner silence and stopping the chatter in the brain. It is as close as I could get to being in the zone.

Warm Regards,
