Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C

SlartyBartFast, I would like to publically offer you an apology. You did offer your comment "IMO" so I should have left it there. Moving on, the fact is the socialists libs are running the ISSF either directly or indirectly and they are closing in on us. Whether or not they are weenies is ...

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C

Like I said, the liberal socialist weenies are running the show. The first step was just taken to eliminate shooting and it was a big step.

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C

Seems like those running the ISSF have a liberal flavor to them. Take it as you wish, but introducing "all inclusive events to build a cross discipline shooting community" sounds like liberal crap to me. That is feel good BS that I doubt makes many on this forum feel good. It is a smoke sc...

Re: What's your high score?

I don't think there is any bragging going on here. The title to this thread is self explanatory..."What is your high score?" So...some shooters are posting their high score...no surprises there. I think the purpose of the thread is to open the door to anyone who is interested in the though...

Re: What's your high score?

587 with a FWB Mod 2 in 1991 or 1992 at the Nationals. All the targets were 97 to 99. Only one 99, so it shows that you just have to shoot good targets and be consistent. You do not have to do anything magical.

Re: Free Pistol at Nationals???

It is hard to believe what USA Shooting has reduced the pistol nationals to...an almost meaningless, over priced, overly complicated competition. I remember a time when the NRA ran the program when there were 2 relays on an 80 point line for FP. Perhaps they have accomplished exactly what they wante...

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

I am trying to get hold of someone there too so will let you know if I find out anything useful. Some info that may or may not interest you...per SAAMI. Case dia. .226 (-.004 tolerance) Bullet dia .2255 (-.0040 tolerance) SAAMI has 2 specs for the 22 LR that interest us, or at least me: Max Length o...

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

Is the product number 0035? And, is the cartridge tray just a flat piece of plastic or does it have legs on it?

What are your lot numbers? I will see what info I can dig up, if anything. And, was your CCI SV in the 100 plastic pack or the 50 round paper box?

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

Well, if CCI SV does not work in this Victor, then the solution is an easy one. However, there is another way of looking at it, other than it necessarily being a quality issue. I assume that CCI manufactures their ammo per SAAMI specs. If their ammo is made to a max tolerance and your pistol chamber...

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

Due to the free pistols being single shot and having true match chambers with the bullet being engraved by the lands, I can imagine that the CCI would be difficult to chamber to say the least. Once upon a time I had a lot of R50 that grouped great but it made my thumb sore from pushing it into the c...

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

Referring to CCI as crappy ammo may be a little harsh because after all, LOTS of shooters are using it with excellent results. I dare say that you cannot find anything out there in the same price range that shoots more accurately on a regular basis. As stated earlier, my Pardini can be a little part...

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

Before altering the barrel of this fine old model I would have a new barrel made for it if you decide this is justified...perhaps a little longer but that is just a matter of balance preference.

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

I am not suggesting starting to manufacture metal chips, only trying to discover what the actual problem is...something perhaps other than the ammo being a little fat to the point of being out of spec.

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?

Perhaps the chamber on this pistol is a little on the tight side. I have had some issues with CCI SV feeding in my Pardini, but it is related to length and the bullet coming up out of the magazine, not chambering all the way which indicates a diameter issue. It would be interesting to take a casting...

Re: Hammerli 280 problem

Definitely don't go on my word. I know nothing about the 280. However, my guess is that this crack will just keep on going unless you drill a small hole at the very end of it to stop the progression. But once again, wait for some others to weigh in.

Re: Why Do So Many Dislike the Evo 10?

I removed the stabilizer just for a few shots, maybe 5, just so I could see how much difference it would make. I borrowed a friend's 162ei Titanium one time and shot it side by side with my LP 10. The Morini grips were unaltered so did not fit me perfectly, but I quickly found I shot it as well as t...

Re: Why Do So Many Dislike the Evo 10?

I have no experience with the Evo but feel sure it is a fine AP. I did own a LP10 for a while and liked it. The spring actuated recoil reducer seemed to need tweeking every now and then. I could feel the recoil change a little every now and then which prompted me to take the bolt out and check the a...

Re: the changes are slow to reach the shooting line

I was shooting back in those days too but remember the typical logic differently. I started off shooting a FWB spring gun in 1979 just like almost everyone else. FWB owned the AP line. No one talked about velocity because we had no chronographs and the speed wasn't adjustable anyway. I stuck as clos...
