Re: Shoot the damn thing!

Rover has a good sense of humor and I hope he knows I am just kidding with him. We have both been around this sport for a long time. I enjoy him stirring the pot. No one wants him to change...he keeps things from getting boring. As a matter of fact, when I see his name on a post, I make a point to r...

Re: Shoot the damn thing!

You are absolutely correct. I must have made Rover mad because he has remained silent. Should I appologize and risk getting him fired back up?

Re: Shoot the damn thing!

There are different ways that shooters choose to enjoy our sport. One of these ways is owning various models. I cannot criticize someone for what they own unless they are spending my money. How they spend their money is none of my business. However, if a shooter wants my opinion on maximizing their ...

Re: High velocity ammo in a TOZ 35.

The comment on brass hardness is new to me as well. For the manufacturers of 22 RF, it would be a nightmare to have to make different grades of brass and keep them separated. As for velocity, the optimum barrel length for a 22 LR is 12" to 14". Longer barrels actually start to cause drag o...

Re: Pellet Prices over the last year

The price of lead has gone up. The shotgun reloaders are also paying increased prices for lead shot. This has negatively impacted shotshell reloading. We have seen this before. Hopefully lead prices will back off at some point.

Re: Experience With Federal "UltraMatch" .22 Ammo in Semi-Au

Look at the box and see if it says made in Germany. If it does, it is very good ammo and they sent you better ammo than you ordered. The lot I had was very accurate. Mr Alexander, you are indeed a caustic personality. What part of my original statement would make you want to refer to me as "id...

Re: New Morini Air Pistol - CM200 EI

I am with you William. I believe I was editing my comment while you were responding to it. At any rate, to each his own, but one thing that I like about the 162 is the lack of adjustability. IMO, it does not lack any needed adjustability. There is less to mess with and that appeals to me. I had a LP...

Re: New Morini Air Pistol - CM200 EI

Mr Morini was the design genius and most of the smarts left when he walked out the door. To discribe him as being "tossed out of the company" is rather degrading to such a smart and nice gentleman. But I get it that he was being complimented at the same time. I met him on several occasions...

Re: New Morini Air Pistol - CM200 EI

You have your dominant brands in everything. Walther and FWB may be lacking in air pistol, but not in air rifle. Steyr is dominant in air pistol but the free pistol they bought out year ago was a flop and at that time it was primarily going up against the TOZ. Back when I started everybody was shoot...

Re: Pardini SP Bullseye Edition ammo choice

I can understand that thought, but I think it would get extremely laborious to have to whack every 22 round with a hammer or forming die of some sort, and it would be very concerning to surrounding competitors on the line. CCI SV works fine for me most of the time, and it seems when I most often hav...

Re: Pardini SP Bullseye Edition ammo choice

I had a lengthy conversation with one of the rim fire engineers at a trade show. We discussed the posibility of making the OAL of the CCI 22 ammo shorter, even .010 shorter. That is all it would take. From a manufacturing standpoint, it would be an easy change...just adjust the bullet nose forming p...

Re: Pardini SP Bullseye Edition ammo choice

The max length for 22 LR according to SAAMI is 1.000. The few rounds of CCI that I measured were about .990 to .992. A Pardini magazine measuring from front to back is about 1.005ish...it is hard to get an exact measurement. So, a CCI round will fit in the mag but it leaves very little extra room, e...

Too many professionals involved now, and too much money. Too much money polutes everything and encourages all kinds of new cheating methods because the potential payoff is so lucrative.

And if you think it is boring now, imagine back before there were electronic targets. The spectators really had a hard time knowing what was going on then.

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C

Since I am not informed on what goes on, are the pistol events down to mens air, womens air and mixed air? Everything else is gone? Or is Rapid and Sport Pistol still there? Same for rifle...everything is down to air rifle? No 22 LR events at all?

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C

I wonder who was complaining...or did they just decide to use that as an excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway. Eliminating FP is a biggy. I think there is more to it than equality. What events did they eliminate for rifle?

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C

I was on the team at the time we broke away from the NRA. I did not have an opinion, don't really remember what the issues were. I did not care. All I wanted to do was shoot. Whatever the reason, it does not seem like it worked out for the best, but you never know what would have happened if the bre...
