CPM1 storage

I have this model and have wondered about this myself. The seal in the pistol itself is cheap, so if it stays under pressure for a long time and fails, it is easy to fix. On the other hand, the seals in the valve cannot be purchased so the entire valve needs to be replaced ($60 ea.). I had to replac...

sight alignment

When shooting, as skills improve, the sight movement becomes a gentle sway, not a vibration. The sway enters into the desired sight picture, the one that jack shared with us, (for me anyway) and the subconscious is quick enough to recognize this and take advantage of this very brief moment. I don't ...

sight picture

All that is very scientifically impressive. However, as an example, my high score with a free pistol is a 99. The lone 9 was approx 1/2 way out the 9 ring. My hold area was bigger than this. The only way that I can expain this is that all systems were functioning and the shots broke at the right tim...

Good information tleddy. However, I disagree with your statement that your group will only be as good as your hold. This is absolutely not the case. When your subconscious is in synch with your trigger control, the shots break at the correct sight picture...the one that jack posted. If my groups wer...

sight movement

Have someone either move or not move the sights, but not tell you which or how much. Then try shooting and see where the shots go. Sometimes moving the sights causes a mental adjustment too. In the end the most important thing is whether or not you can get the pistol sighted in.

Charles, is your old Ham CO2 or compressed air?

AP porting

Chuck, my comment on porting was nothing personal concerning your machining abilities...that did not enter my mind. I don't take jabs at people here, just share my thoughts. My concern is the edge left in the barrel and the location of the ports. Due to the pellets being so soft, my guess is they ar...

AP porting

The first person that I knew to go down this road was Don Nygord with his "Turbo Comp". I think he sold quite a few of them but do not know if the idea was his or someone elses. At any rate, the AP manufacturers picked up on the idea sometime after that. I had a Steyr CO2 and they came out...

Millsbomb, I think you are correct. At one time, I was somewhat of a top shooter. Styer gave me an AP to shoot, their CO2 model. I shot it for a while and liked it alot. Then Walther gave me one of their CO2 models, which I liked very well too, still shoot it. Walther also gave me their first compre...

pellet size

What you have said about the 10 ring being so much bigger is true. However, when I shoot a high 9, I always wonder what could have been with small group pellets. On another note, measuring the diameter of pellets is tricky. The lead is very soft and the slightest pressure from a micrometer will inde...

Distinguished revolver load

I recommend 3 to 3.2 grs of Bullseye with a moderate to firm crimp on the bullet. This has worked well for me and some others I know.

LP 10 question

Thank you David for the tip and link to the Steyr site. Repositioning the barrel cured the "puff." Thanks to all for responding.

LP 10

The velocity is low...480's and that is all I can get out of it. The adjustment screw for velocity will go in no further. It will not shoot 1 hole groups. Sounds like it might need to go to the shop.

LP 10 question

When firing a LP 10, is it normal to feel a slight puff of air on top of the firing hand? This feeling was very pronounced so I replaced the seal under the bolt. It has been reduced significantly with the new seal, but it is still there slightly. Has anyone experienced this with their LP 10?

Your friend may be going deaf for another reason and may need to see an ear, nose and throat doctor, if he hasn't already. Some of it could be heredity. I had ear surgery several years ago, it was called a stapendectomy (spelling?). This is where the stapes bone is replaced. This bone is responsible...

Jackie Best

I have a wad gun that Jackie built for me in 1979 and it shoots good...have broken 880 with it. Jackie's guns weren't fancy but they shot well. He lived in Columbus, GA. I wanted to learn how to build 45's so he invited me down for a week in the summer of 1980, picked me up at the airport, loaned me...

The trigger guard looks like the type that comes on the TOZ 35M. If this is the case, he evidently has had the MTU shop put another barrel on it as well as convert it to a side cocker. Whatever the case, it seems to suit him very well.

I have a DES 69 that I purchased off Felix Solis is about 1981. Shot standard pistol as well as bullseye with it for years. Still shoots fine. Wish they still made them as it seems to be a very well made pistol.

When focusing on the front sight, the gap on each side appear to be on the same plain, so you can focus on both at once. Having a correctly fitting grip and proper stance is very important in sight alignment. When you hold the pistol up, the sights should be naturally aligned, perhaps not perfectly,...
