Re: Converting Ruger MkII to FP

Locking the bolt closed will cause the recoil impulse to be much higher and it will be harder to be accurate/consistent. This is especially the case with a pistol that sits higher in your hand, such as the Ruger. The consistency of your grip fit and your resistance to the recoil will become much mor...

Re: Is TOZ-35 free floated, does it matter ?

Jon, you are right on as usual. The TOZ is a great gun, well balanced and durable. I shot mine for many years and never had to replace a single part except for perhaps a firing pin spring. I am glad there are shooters who are having fun making modifications to them. However, they work fine right out...

Re: Is TOZ-35 free floated, does it matter ?

IMO, it really makes little to no difference but it will certainly not hurt anything.

Re: Barrel Life

With no combustion or the resulting abrasive byproducts, along with the absence of heat, an air pistol barrel should never wear out regardless of the manufacturing process. As stated earlier, improper cleaning technique is the most likely cause of wear or damage.

Re: What is exceptable in a new Morini 162El ?

I did not read this entire thread, but I remove the cylinder from the gun when not in use. I do not know if that makes any difference but I like to take the pressure off the regulator and seals when not in use.

Re: What makes a pistol more "forgiving" than another?

I believe that usually it is due to the balance not being to the shooters liking or the grips do not fit properly. If either or both is the case, the shooter is struggling to some degree to keep the pistol lined up, pushing it one way or the other. When it goes off, it depends on the degree of pushi...

Re: Pellet sizers

In all fairness to Don, sizers perhaps helped with the old style springer guns. However, with the guns that came along after that, which seat the pellet farther into the barrel (and therefore resize it), using a sizer offers no benefit in my experience.

This is one of those discussions that is so fraught with misunderstanding and lack of knowledge that it is hard to know what to say. So I will stop here.

Re: Which has a better trigger ?

I am not sure where the "love the extras" came from on the end of my quote, but anyway. As for having broke the mould, not hardly. You will find that most shooters probably agree with me for the most part. I have owned a FWB 65, FWB 2, Styer LP1, Walther CMP2, Walther LP200, Styer LP10, Pa...

Re: Which has a better trigger ?

The problem is that the adjustments are too easy to make so it is often the first thing the shooter goes to, rather than working on what might be the real issue. Something might become an issue in someones mind only if an easy alteration can be made for a perceived cure. Otherwise, it might be given...

Re: Which has a better trigger ?

It is that simple. Choose the model you like best. All the current top models are being used by someone who is shooting very respectable scores. Pick one. Adjustability is nice, usually. But once you adjust it, you would typically leave is alone. As a coach, assist your shooters in how to get the ad...

Re: Which has a better trigger ?

Forget which model holds more air, forget that a model is interchangeable from electronic to mechanical. These qualities mean nothing. Choose the model that looks and balances the best. The shooters that like to change from this to that...experimenting...never shoot to their potential. Experimentati...

Re: Mg2/MG4 bullseye specific Pistols

The MG2 that I shot was not the EVO. The pistol has been returned to Jon. The information I got about the EVO came directly from Matchguns by email.

Re: Mg2/MG4 bullseye specific Pistols

The top half has been redesigned. It now comes off, along with the barrel, by removing just 1 screw instead of 7 screws. Jon Eulette is the man in the know on the MG2. He was kind enough to let me shoot his MG2 and it is a very comfortable gun to shoot, balances well and has an excellent trigger. It...

Re: Shoot the damn thing!

You told me you had been eating liquorish. About the grips. One problem is that the vast majority of shooters do not know how to fit grips, and they do not shoot enough or practice in a way that helps them zero in on the issues that are actually causing them problems. When there is a problem, spendi...

Yes I do love the "pumpers" as you say. I have tried to buy back my FWB Mod 65. What great guns they were and are. Having gas is so inconvenient. Thanks for being understanding with someone whos big "mouth" gets in front of his small brain. My hat is off to you. Cheers.

Re: Shoot the damn thing!

Reading back, I think my kidding with Rover was a little rich. I tend to get a little carried away sometimes and keyboard kidding is easily misinterpreted, and I dragged John into it because there is no straighter shooter than him and I think he has picked at Rover a time or two. Time for some delet...
