Being the son of an old-school carpenter my heart lies with wood. I like to believe that wood handles the knockback/vibrations better but I have no evidence to support that.

Pain in the hand might also be caused by a bad glove. I recently switched from a cheap-ass Fritzmann glove to a more expensive Gehmann Half Cover glove. It was twice the money bet the pressure caused by the handstop was greatly reduced. The Fritzmann glove was fine at the time, but now I've got this...

Time to post some results aswell then: Today I had the finals of the National Dutch Championships, at the same range I shot my dramatic 572 score last month. I went there, imprinted in my mind I had no pressure, I had no reason to be nervous; I have done this a million times. In the beginning it was...

I treat match scores and training scores completely separately, in fact in training I usually don't even score the targets - whats the point? Your only achievement is a match score, worrying about whether you'll equal or better your training score is just wasted time and additional pressure you don...

Thanks everyone for the advices! Some pretty helpfull things around. I do not want myself to shoot any better than I actually can, I just want to shoot as well as I can, nothing more, nothing less. Making bets with fellow shooters: all the shooters I normally train with, shoot 10-20 points less than...

Match tension

Hi there, I'm 18 and Ive been shooting Air rifle, 10 meters since I was 11, I’m not a top competitor, but I’m doing alright, averaging a 9 average whilst training once a week. (And I only just bought a jacket + glove) About half a year ago I started out with small bore shooting. As soon as I turned ...

I've found that careful weight testing of every single round you're going to shoot for record score will result in execellent recurring groupings. This would allow you to use cheaper ammo, but utilizing your own quality assurance. I would group ammo in 0.5 grain tolerances. The cheaper the ammo, th...

Ive had the same thing with my Anschutz Match 54, I initially started cleaning the rifle with cheap silicon-based oil, which turned out to be the problem. The silicon clutters the excess grains together and it turnes into a paste which causes the bolt to stick after firing. I then started cleaning m...

I am very satisfied with the SK Standard Plus. My trainer did some tests with it, and its easily comparable to the Eley Tenex (eventho is 1/4th in price)
