Re: National Rifle League / VT Winter Postal League Final Re
Thank you, Peter, for another great Postal League. For any of you out there looking for organized smallbore Competition shot at your local club through the winter months, this Postal League is great. I believe this is the third year or fourth I've participated along with shooters now from two differ...

Check the thread on "VT Winter Postal". It explains how that smallbore and air rifle League works.

Lyman Targetspot scope repair
Fellow shooters. I have a Lyman Targetspot scope in need of new cross hairs. And I'd like a dot on the 'hairs. Any recommendations for a reliable, reputable shop?

Re: cleaning anschutz 1913 22
I have an Anschutz 1913 Supermatch. I clean after every time I shoot, using a Dewey one piece rod and a bore guide. I only use a light oil (Butch's Bore Oil) and no solvent. I feel this does not remove the lead "seasoning" but does remove the crud. Every once in a long while (maybe once a ...

Re: First match pistol!
I shot a number of different pistols trying to answer the same question until I lucked into a used Hammerli 208. Best decision I've made! I purchased a second one as a back-up, and after not needing it for two years I sold it for what I paid. I have shot over 10,000 rounds with it, and the only FTF ...

VT Postal League
Kudos to Peter for another well run Postal League. For those who complain of the headaches in organizing a League of 10-15 shooters, all at one club, think of the logistics of almost 90 shooters spread over a number of states! For those of us not lucky enough to have competed in high school or colle...

lower left sure look like my Hammerli 208 grips, other than they are for shooters shooting with the wrong hand (I'm a lefty...)

Nelson .22 LR conversion
I'm the original poster with an update. I sent my pistol (lower and upper) to Larry to get it sorted out. While there, he noticed some other issues, called me, and asked if he could go through the pistol and tune it up. I got a detailed list of the work performed and his estimated cost -- extremely ...

old age?
You're never too old if you are motivated. I started position shooting when I was 57. I was having focus issues so I started using a scope. Two years ago on advice from a fellow shooter I started using an adjustable iris and front aperture in my iron sights. Now I can have both the sights and target...

question
just a thought...some indoor ranges require use of their ammo. How much ammo would an AR15 sprayer consume in 15 minutes versus what you would consume? Maybe it's about money.

mental vs. technical
I am not the most proficient shooter, but for me, the mental aspect is huge, whether I am shooting a rifle or pistol. People ask me what my thought process is as I am shooting, and my reply is "I don't think while I am shooting; if I do, my mind is not on what I am doing." By this I mean I...

.22 LR conversions
+1 on support from Larry Nelson. I purchased a Nelson conversion and had a couple service issues. He called me, we talked, and he said to send him the conversion plus lower, and he would make it all work correctly. You can't ask for more than that.

pellet sleeves
if you are talking about the plastic sleeves that keep the lid on open pellet cans... I had the same problem with tins that were slightly too tall (JSB Exact Heavies). So I took an empty tin that was of normal height, filled it with pellets from the over-sized tin, then put the lid on the "norm...

Nelson .22LR 1911 Conversion
Thanks John. As it turns out, I got a call from Larry Nelson today and he said to send him the pistol (lower + conversion) and he would go through it, similar to your suggestion, and sort it out. glad to know the company stands behind its products!

Nelson .22LR 1911 Conversion
yes (dedicated lower), originally built for a .38 special upper. I had a Kimber Conversion on in and had no problems. Trigger weight is 3 pounds 1 ounce (average of 5 pulls).

Nelson .22LR 1911 Conversion
I recently acquired a Nelson conversion. I'm quite impressed with the fit, finish, and ease of installation. Weight-wise It feels little different from my 1911 with a .45ACP slide. I took it out last night for the first time to a local bullseye shoot, and while generally accurate, I had a couple iss...

lubed .22LR
My experience is the same as David M -- unless it is very warm/hot, or bright sunny, the lube is not a problem, and then only as it makes my magazine loading fingers greasy. When these conditions exist, I keep my ammo out of the sun, bullet down. Of course, shooting in the Pacific NW rarely presents...
