Training DVD

Its always good to have more training information. If you could send a copy of both the rifle and pistol disks I'd appreciate it. My mailing address is Ken Bookmyer 259 N. River Drive Woodstock VA 22664 We just got a new shooting club in our county the instructor moved up from Georgia, he said you'v...

AR vs AP

NCAA has a sanctioned rifle competition which means some scholarships are available although most are partial. They don't have an AP program. It's a big deal because since most shooters are also academically above average they really help bring up the average scores for the student athletes or so I'...

training

VA is set up the same, they only cover the most basic stuff which now that I understand is the program is OK other than the fact that the national curriculum is about six hours in length and VA mandates sixteen hours of training not including the "core" training in 4H policies on education...

4H instructor training

Apparently they are only supposed to teach the basic curriculum which for pistol ends with two handed seated and two handed supported. Shotgun is supposed to begin and end with one shot straight away. Apparently they don't think it's possible to teach more than that in the time allocated for the coa...

paper

thats a really good idea, trying to spot while shooting at metals doesn't seem like the way to go. Did you find a supplier of paper 1/10 scale silhouettes or did you trace them? I found one set on line but couldn't get them to open. Practice was canceled tomorrow it's been raining all day and the ou...

rifle velocity

I'm sure the kids won't mind setting their targets but stopping the line that often for something that can be mechanized bothers me deeply.

4H instructor training

I should have thought to post this earlier but, next week I will be at the 4H instructor training to become a certified pistol instructor (to certify coaches not 4H members). We also have someone going for shotgun and rifle from VA, anyone in 4H have a question you want brought up? I personally thin...

air tanks

The only issue I can imagine in taking air tanks and air guns might possibly be if you need to go through one of the tunnels like in Baltimore on the way to PA. You might ask a scuba tank fill station they should know what transportation class is assigned to compressed air tanks. You'd be very very ...

books

When our club was headed for BB Nationals I got them "Rifle Steps to Success" by Launi Meili (Air Force Academy Coach) Several of the kids thought it helped them. She covers the whole range from meals to equipment the whole soup to nuts as it were at a level that I think it very good for j...

postals

American Legion also does air rifle postals. Here in VA they also have a live fire match in VA it's sporter only some states I think they do both sporter and precision. To shoot in it you need to be sponsored by a Legion Post but that's no more than asking and filling out some paperwork.

air silhouette

I can buy silhouettes for air in either 1/8 or 3/16 both are the same price. $65/set of 20 (ebay). I'm guessing the 3/16 will hold up longer but since we will be using them for pistol I'm afraid they may not fall as reliably as the 1/8. Can anyone who shot both offer an opinion? They offer spinners ...

sizer

All of the pellets including the cheapest dirtiest Daisys outshoot me but with that said from an engineering point of view. Isn't whether or not a pellet sizer is going to make a difference going to depend a lot on the relative diameters of the sizer and the barrel diameter. I can imagine that sizin...

Thanx I couldn't find the ISSF specifications when I looked on line. The target is correct the overlay does not match it looks like the tehe ten ring is 10.5 and the seven ring is 57.5 Maybe it's not a 10m air pistol target and it's a 22 target instead? I was told it was the issf equivalent of the n...

I just looked at a target it's stamped B-40/4 1989 so maybe they are that old but they must have had a heck of an inventory on hand to still be shipping them.

they should be less than five years old, probably less than two since they weren't doing pistol five years ago. But anything is possible, but know that I know it's probably the targets I can check with their manufacturer instead of waiting for a reply from the overlay company
thanx

ISSF vs NRA

I bought some acetate overlay scoring aids on ebay they were made by Cibles Canada and have a full 10 m air rifle target and a partial 10 m air pistol on them. When I got them the air rifle lined up perfectly but the air pistol does not line up with the NRA B40 targets I've got it's close but appear...
