There is an old saying, that teaching new shoots to shoot standing first is the way to go.
The feeling is that everything you learn to shoot standing, carries down to the other positions.
But not necessarily the other way around.

The best way to get red of the shakes
Is to shoot, shoot and maybe shoot some more in ten shot groups. The next way a very important thing is to keep track of your 10 shot groups. A good way to do that is via postal matches. I just happen to know of a 10 shot re-entry air rifle postal that just getting started. Here’s how it works. On a...

You shoot two shots per target on 5 bull target. Shoot as many as you want. Just mail the best to me. Any rifle, any sights. If you don...

Here is my opinion. Start the younger kids out on BB guns. Primarily from the standing position. Mix a little position in to have something different. As they progress and be a bit more mature move them up to either air rifle or .22's Now if you elect to go the Air Gun route and use daisy 853, Stick...

For an eight year old, I started my son when he was an eight year old out on a BB gun and his daughter several years later on the same Daisy Jaycee BB gun. It's not so much of the grandeur of shooting a .22 with real ammunition a couple of time a month, it's going down to the basement several time a...

If I’m reading it right, you shot those groups with two different rifles. One, an Ansultz 2022 and a Daisy 888. Looking over your groups it looks like to me, you should chuck the Ansultz and stick with the Daisy. Which leads to the questions, what was the distance from what position. If you had size...

Standard deviates
Now that several other "Standard Deviates" have come out of the loading room, I'd like to add one more tidbit. I like several others found it the size of the pellet that makes the difference. Not the brand or cost of the pellet. In the mid 70's, the pellet to use was the H&N and the ri...

I purchased a "Beeman" pellet sizer several years ago. It came with 4 different sizer's. I went about sizing 15 -20 pellets with each sizer. With my FWB 300s, I ran 10 shots of each group through my chronograph. From which I figured the 'standard deviation' of each group. An assumption on ...

For both juniors and adults, I like the Daisy 853. The CMP has a great price on some refurish ones. I've a couple of 853c purchased in the early 70's. Still shooting them. What age group are we talking about? Adults and/or juniors. 10 to 12-13, the Daisy 499, a single shot bb gun is the best starter...

Ok, how about some older guys
shooting a 3x10 postal with 853 or something similar. Maybe making kneeling optional with sitting. I, personally had to give up kneeling about the 10 years ago or more. Right after I applied for my SS. BTW, has any one tried shooting their 853 at 50 feet on the A17 target? Started a couple of years ...
