Guys, The reason I'm asking for group sizes is because I'm a pistolsmith. I have to be able to quantify results. The use of ransom rest with .22 caliber is the easiest to do with minimal errors compared to the .45 because of recoil. Just trying to get hard numbers for reference.I haven't shot a Nel...

What is going to happen if the USA is in a "real" crisis.. if supply and demand is unable to balance itself in times such as now..?? I don't recall a huge shortage during Vietnam, when many, many more rounds, and components, were being consumed daily, monthly, yearly..than now. We can't su...

As parts get harder and harder to acquire, the Hammerlis will be seen less and less and so the Pardini has taken over. Major awards are going to Pardini and Feinwerkbau routinely. So, Pardini would be your obvious choice of the two you cite. Good luck with your choice and shoot lots. This is an exc...

Jerry - I've read several of your posts and know that you are highly regarded for your pistolsmithing. So back to my original question, "Can I safely (not cause harm to the firing pin or breech-face) use a magnetic credit card or piece of plastic similar in thickness to the top of a margerine ...

Well okay then! <GRIN> But it seems it's not necessary on these anyway ... Eaaaa...Yes and No... Any .22 should be checked, by a smith for head space and firing pin protrusion. It only takes one hit on the chamber face to wreck things.. Even if you don't dry fire your .22, a mis feed, that leaves t...

Murph Thought I'd reply to the thread, plus the PM.. If you desire threaded tubes, you can have the Ultra Dot tubes altered to press onto the Micro. Fred can do that for you, but the surplus threaded UD tube supply has been drying up..if you can find or have some spares lying around, that would help...

If cleaning the full length of the barrel is so injurious, why do Anschutz, Bleiker, Grunig, Feinwerkbau, Walther, and Eley recommend this be done regularly? Pistol shooting is clearly different, but I have yet to meet a top level rifle shooter who recommends never cleaning. It's true that not ever...

Funny how many various experiences there are. I guess if it works for you...OK However, I have a Pardini SP I bought from Don Nygord.. so it has been around for a quite a while. I passed it on to the woman who shoots for me, so it is still getting heavy workouts, and it wins far more than it loses.:...

Conventional pistol is a sport thats many decades old, to change it to accommodate the few that cant make time to do what is necessary to compete is ridiculous. I dont compete in NASCAR because i cant afford the cost of a race car, should they make a rule change and let me race my pickup? , but don...

The little .22 has been a fascinating, enjoyable study for me, over the years. Tested many variations, combinations, barrels, and ammunition. Purchased, begged and borrowed every brand of ammo I could find. Measured, dissected and tested each against the other. Eley is without peer. There is so much...

If the mount attaches to the base plate, to what does the base plate attach? Is it welded onto the dust cover? The base plate is bolted to the frame. A thin ribbon of silver solder is sandwiched/clamped between the plate and frame. The unit is heated until the silver flows and bonds. The plate is t...

Re: Who's a good gun smith in youngstown Ohio area

Does anyone know of a good smith in the youngstown/Boardman Ohio area. looking to get a ultradot mounted on my 1911 style pistol. Scott Mulkerin is in Medina... Not too far from you.. He's an APG member, so you'll be in good hands. My suggestion is, that you should really consider a frame mount tha...

Just a note.. I know that expense is a major consideration when investing in equipment.. The new Micros have a distinct advantage, in that they can be mounted much lower in relation to the bore center line, when compared to traditional optics. They are expensive, the super low mounting options are p...

Ive found the zero 45-185 jhp to be as good or better than the nosler 185. The group with the dime was fired from the barrel tester. I have never gotten a tighter group with any other projectile.. The Nosler is not as good as the Zero. I sent those groups to Jim Collins at Zero shortly after they w...

18.75 twist if I recall correctly.. Back in the PPC revolver days, nearly every early gun shot a 1-10 twist and were very accurate with the .148 gr HBWC often grouping under an inch and showing no discernable yaw at the 50 yard line target. The 10 twist declined in popularity, when Shilen only offer...
