Re: Brass cleaning and lead exposure
Handling solid form lead, ( bullets) is not a hazard. Entry into the body is mainly through inhalation or ingestion. Now, if a solvent is combined with lead dust, particles, fragments, etc.. The possibility of through the skin absorbtion increases.. Leaded gasoline is a good example of a compound of...

Re: Dillon 550/650 powder measure
Kate, Dillon.. I have several powder measures, so that I am not constantly weighing and adjusting the powder flow... I just change powder measures between long line / short line and calibers. This also allows me extra springs if needed. I completely eliminated all the unnecessary linkage, as you can...

Re: 1911 Targer 45 competition with Red Dot
Frame mounts have evolved.. and when mated to the new Aimpoint H-1 Micros have many advantages not possible with a slide mount. Can actually can be mounted lower. The David Sams frame mount is more expensive, and much more machinist dependent, but if you want the ultimate, it's the way to go..Many o...

Re: Dillon 550/650 powder measure
A number of people mentioned they removed the fail safe rod. And added a heavier spring around the measure, or added a second measure. Have any of you tried this? Do you find it more accurate? Got rid of the rod many years ago..It's a pain..Doubled the spring, and I keep my HI/LO powder charge alar...

Get a David Sams mount.. The gun will operate unimpeded by the weight on the slide. We worked on a way to utilize Dave's frame mount with the H-1 and Dave is now manufacturing them.. it should be installed by Dave.. it's the best out there.. http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/tt128/jerrykeefer/IMG_1...

Chemical stain/discoloration during the manufacturing process...
The barrel exteriors are plated..Your barrel just has a blemish..
Otherwise, that has virtually no wear marks..Nice find..

Isabel, I have a question and a point to make. In another post here, "best 22 conversion to buy" you stated that you had trouble breaking firing pins in one of your Marvel units, and indicated that this was something that did not build confidence, leading readers to believe that there may...

Re: Keyholing Clark bbl on my Model 41
A few years ago, I received a new in the box 41 .. The rifling had a 2inch section appox mid barrel, where the rifling process failed, and looked much like stripped threads on a bolt. The only place to find match grade barrels in the USA, is aftermarket.. Factory barrels certainly aren't in the same...

A 22 barrel shooting decent ammo should not have the first hint of lead.. If it does, something is wrong..

Re: Mod 41
I would have the retaining pin/breech block checked. Something has to stop firing pin.. Make sure the firining pin is not absorbing all the shock, of the hammer.. or there is a machining defect in the breech block firing pin bore..a close examine should reveal a cause / remedy. It's not the liner.....

I would line the barrel..A good remedy for nearly all factory 41 barrels..dek wrote:Who's making bbls for the mod 41 that are available (w/o a wait time) and of good reputation? Thanks, Dennis
When done correctly, the liner is suspended, stress free, in a retaining compound.

Re: DR muzzle crown question
Is re-crowning the muzzle considered an external modification ? I have done countless barrels without issue.. I do (did) maintain a factory style configurarion. I would agrue, that bringing factory specs to near perfect, is not a modification, but blue printing, or correcting factory mass productio...

Re: Mystique of the S&W Model 52?
Just a comment about the bullet being in the barrel for a micro or nanosecond. Uhh, no. 710 fps = 8520 inches per second so for a 4" barrel, the bullet is in the barrel for 4"/8520 inches per second = 0.00047 seconds. This is 470 microseconds or 470,000 nanoseconds. In any case, not long,...

Re: Mystique of the S&W Model 52?
Jerry, What are your plans for the bushing and will your new barrel have the dog knot like the S&W, where the barrel fits in the bushing? I'm guessing you haven't finished the front of the barrel shown. Stephen Stephen; Here is a pic or two of the muzzle end. I did not do the S&W radius.. I...

Re: Mystique of the S&W Model 52?
I see another 52 unforgiving thread, so I thought I should update the progress on this 52. 50 shots thru the target. 3 shots upper right at 1&2 oclock.. still score ten ring. Easily holds ten ring.. I have a 10 twist on order, which I believe will further improve the gun. The shooter is posting ...

Re: !911 .45 Bullsey Wancutter
Jerry, I am completely in sympathy with the frame mount system. My NRA guns have had the original Weigand mounts on them for twenty years or so. I find your single sided mount intriguing and would like to know if you have one that can be fitted to a Hammerli P240 .38special? I see the spacer mounte...

Re: New York Compliant options for upgrade
You will probably find no shortage of breakage for the IZH although others seem to be happy. :-)) I have only worked on one of these.. One of the PD shooters shot one for several years.. The gun was not too bad for him, ergonomically.. He shot it well and liked the trigger. The problem I had with i...
