I agree with Greg; It does not rip the case out of the chamber.. Nothing happens, until the pressure drops enough for the barrel and slide to separate..residue low pressure gas assits in the case removal, much similar to a .22. If the extractor is marking and or deforming the case, / rim.. The extra...

Jerry, IF you wouldnt mind posting a picture of a steel aimpoint base that would be great. Thanks Fred T I threw in some weights, to compare. One complaint I have heard from the slide mount shooters, is the light weight of the Micro, has caused a different feel of the gun in recoil.. These shooters...

The way I attach photos, is to post the pic on photo bucket...then paste the picture #number to your target talk reply..I am not real computer savvy, so I don't know all the correct ...

Four screws and a recoil lug. Exactly the same way Aimpoint mounts it to their factory base...

Gunrunner, there is a plate on the frame to send your gun to David Sams, or Jerry Keefer to do it for you. As Isabel says. The "plate" or foundation, is installed at a one degree angle, to compliment the barrel lock up. It is attached with two screws, and then, silver soldered. It is supe...

Jab If you can, try both before you decide..Some shooters are locked in on the slide mount, as was I.. A female shooter with severe tendonitis, is the reason this frame mount was developed.. I am sold on it now...The gun is a little dirty from a year of heavy shooting. The slide has been lightened, ...

No...I make them on an individual basis. David Sams and I worked on designing the frame mounts together.. It is just as unique. I have photos somewhere, I'll try to post them later..Anyway, David has geared up to CNC and is producing the frame mount. I agree with Dave, that the frame mount is really...

Here's an R-1 that's been adapted to a fabricated low mount base, and inlaid into an Al Marvel rib. Very low, compact, and sturdy.. The extension tubes are threaded internally to allow the use of filters.. A most on bright sunny days.. The Micro is pricey, and hurts when you buy it, but what a dot s...

Try Mark Hartshorne of Pinnacle Guns. He is a fine machinist, an APG member, and a revolver competitor.

Check out the Aimpoint Micro... Expensive, but it is proving itself to be a very good choice. Many of the top guns are moving to it, and many were on the line at Perry this year. After we figured out how to mount it, and fixture extension tubes/filters, it is clearly the way to go. No failures that ...

Jerry Keefer is a fine gunsmith and a very nice man. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Zins clinic in Richmond in 2009. One of my fellow shooters from Colorado has been shooting a Keefer 45 for several years now and seems very happy with it. I personally shoot a 45 with a frame mounted dot. I ...

Re: Frame mounts

[quote="BenEnglishTX Is it as well-made as it looks? [/quote]
Of course..:)
There are features that are not visible.. such as machined steps/slots that prevent shifting under recoil. The screws only pull the base and frame together. The precisely machined slots carry the load..

Frame mounts

Frame mounts have evolved over the years.. This design is actually lower than most slide mounts.. People say the Aimpoint Micro is top of the line sight. It may be, but I have to have a full length tube. The open type dot sights to me are out of the question. I agree with Jack..The "flat screens" as I call them, are almost useless for bullseye. Fred Totts and I have been experimenting...
