Re: Which Globe

You also might want to look at changing the dovetail also, if it isn't part of the barrel. That way the sight and dovetail match. The dovetail may need alteration of the mounting holes depending on what firearm you are dealing with.

Re: Fill station for a Daisy 887 CO2

Hello Bob, I believe a standard paint ball fill station does work based on a previous post by JH Martin.

Re: CERTIFIED TRAINING CENTER SPOTLIGHT: THE X COUNT

The MSU Demmer Center has not had guns since before Covid. Unfortunately, before Covid they had a student commit suicide on the range. During Covid they were shut down completely. Coming out of Covid they are archery only. You would think USA Shooting would actually audit their CTC's for matches, cl...

We have a certified training center near us, that doesn't even allow guns. The Demmer Center in East Lansing.

Re: 50 Foot ISSF standard target heights for kneeling and prone

We use the CMP rules as they are based on the ISSF Rules: 6.3.4 Target Heights Targets must be placed so that the target center or the center point of the record bulls is 0.75 m (+/- 0.50 m)( 30 in. +/- 20 in.) above the level of the firing point. Target heights to the center point of the targets in...

Re: 22 target pistol or rifle

My suggestion is to find a local club and see what they have to offer. If you are new to shooting a program at a local club should have knowledgeable members willing to get you and your children on the correct path. Not every club has junior programs though. You may have to contact a few clubs. To f...

Re: Managing Youth Clubs Online

I created a sheet in AutoCad for our clubs junior program, to track progress of all the kids as they earn their awards. Something similar could also be done in excel. I update it at the end of each month. We do not post it online but that could be done. We post it on the door to the equipment room. ...

Re: MSU Demmer center - is it gone ?

Yes, as a firearm facility it is gone. A report on Michigan Out of Doors TV on the reopening on the October 6 episode, the new manager Casey Christman said they are transitioning to archery only facility. https://www.michiganoutofdoorstv.com/sh ... ideoID=752

Re: MSU Demmer center - is it gone ?

Just received the following email from the Demmer Center. No mention of firearms. Unfortunately I cannot attend and ask about firearms. Come join us Sunday October 9th from 10am-4pm at the DEMMER CENTER for our Grand Re-Opening! Bring your bow and a quiver full of arrows and shoot for FREE on one of...

Re: MSU Demmer center - is it gone ?

The Demmer Center is open. Unfortunately it is listed as an archery center and firearms aren't mentioned. New website; https://ipf.msu.edu/demmer-shooting-sports-and-education-center Additionally, it is still listed on the USA Shooting website as a training center. I guess USA Shooting doesn't do in...

Actually it usually rests lower. In the picture it is resting on the dirt in tube. Being hollow the tubes collect dirt and have to be cleaned out occasionally.

Re: cheap wind flags

We use 1/2" electrical metal conduit (EMT). Available at home depot etc. for under $6 for 10 feet. Cut to desired length, we cut in fourths. The tubing goes into the ground easily. A long bolt with washer and nut will drop down the center and then can pivot without falling out. We also use flor...

Re: ISSF Boot Rules

Yes, had to change boots to make them legal. According to the rules (ISSF 7.5.3.6) the sole has follow the contour of the rest of the boot and not extend more than 5 mm beyond that contour. I used a band saw, but a utility knife will also work, just slower. I believe this was a year 2013 rule change...

Re: New to the sport and front sight questions

I think that before a sight change is made, more information is needed. You say you bought your daughter a FWB 800 junior and is new to the sport, but neglect some other vital info. I assume she is a junior and is shooting 3P and standing. How much experience does she have? What kind of scores is sh...

Re: Young Shooter Advice

Is he shooting as part of a junior program or are you doing this on your own? I would try to find a junior program in your area. On shooting more, sporter air rifle would be a good option as you can usually shoot at home, basement or wherever you have 33 feet of clear space.

JO no shows?

Does anyone know the reason for so many no scores in Women's rifle? I don't have a shooter there this year, so sort of out of the loop. I do know of one shooter that was in training but had no score for yesterday's relay.

Re: Right handed shooter, left eye dominant

Being myself left eye dominant and right handed, this is something I always looked for when working with new junior rifle shooters. Generally kids will always try to shoot with their dominant eye, even if they have to lean farther over the stock to get their dominant eye behind the sight. First I ex...

Re: Jr. Rifle Education and Recommendations

My daughter is about the same size as yours. I got her a FWB 2700 with the short barrel and bloop tube. It lightens the overall rifle and moves the center of gravity back. She had no problem with the weight. Many other rifles can be found with the same set-up. Remember, it is always easier to add we...

Re: light weight or heavier weight for small bore rifle

I would go with a lighter rifle. It is much easier to add weight to a rifle then remove weight. As noted above, cutting down the barrel with reduce a big chunk of weight. But there aren't any other ways to reduce larger chunks of weight. I have never ran into anyone using anywhere near max. weight o...
