looking at the problem again and it may not be the extractor that is rubbing but the bottom of the slide.

I am not keen on shooting it in this condition in case it snaps again.

I'm a bit worried about interfering with the magazine in case I introduce feeding problems

any suggedtions?

Update - It is going to cost me $400 AUD to get a new slide. I have to send the piece with the serial number back to the dealer in Melbourne , who has to send it to FWB in Germany, who will put the same serial number onto a new slide and send it back. The gun is about 7 years old or so..

Ammo used was Federal 711b gold medal. No high velocity ammo used at all.
