Re: Get a grip, man!

Question for Rover: Which do you think is the stronger driving force: 1. Aversion to (fear of?) files, Dremel tools, and epoxy wood-filler; or B. Desire to maintain high resale value by keeping grips intact? Well, I'm not Rover, but I'll relate my personal experience. I've done a lot of reading abo...

Re: Why are Bullseye shooters such pussies?

im often in the upper 560s and I have topped 570 several times this year. Here's the Top 8 scores from Day One at the Olympic Trials last year at Benning: 577 569 572 573 572 567 568 562 . . . just sayin' . . . . Wow!! Great scores! I also shoot such scores regularly, but only in my dreams. Since I...

Re: Recommendations for inexpensive spotting scope

You didn't give a price range to define "inexpensive" and that might help. I use a Kowa TSN-611 for bullseye and it easily resolves .22 holes at 50 yards. I've never tried it at 100 yards. It will also focus down to 10 meters so when I practice air pistol in my garage I can check my shot c...

Re: Shipping PCP Air Pistols

To all who offered advice - Thank you! I have sold all five pistols with three being in-person sales. One was local and two were sold at the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club Mid-Winter Championship. I also sold two of them to a person in California so those are the only two I needed to ship. I found a surpl...

Re: Why are Bullseye shooters such pussies?

I just completed the Desert Mid-Winter match hosted by Phoenix Rod and Gun Club, an organization to which Rover recently (maybe still does) belong. As I'm sure he knows, this is one of the most well run matches around. I saw a lot of folks having a good time, enjoying camaraderie, and striving to im...

That's good to know, Don. Thank you for the update. It looks like I may have to choose a different carrier.

Re: Shipping PCP Air Pistols

Dennis, First, I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Since you are obviously making the effort to do things right, I'd also advise taking a few pictures. Might be good to document the condition of each item, and the packing job. Should you need to file an insurance claim, the carrier will do thei...

Re: Where to Get a Front Sight for a Morini 162MI?

You can also contact Andrew Berryhill. He can print one for you if you wish. That's a great idea. I filed a sight down and overdid it a bit, and have been futzing around trying to undo my error. As an experiment I asked Andrew to print several front sights with different heights for my Morini 162 E...

Re: Shipping PCP Air Pistols

Lots of good advice and I appreciate all of it. Thank you. I'm also researching the web for an "over box" in which to insert the manufacturer's case. Many options on the web but one usually has to buy at least 25 boxes, way more than I need. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I asked my...

Shipping PCP Air Pistols

I'm hoping someone can advise me on shipping a PCP pistol. Which carrier (US post office, UPS, FedEx) is the best, i.e., best price and least hassle? What kind of container is best? I have the factory fitted case, but believe it should be packed in some kind of box with additional padding. Any thoug...

Re: School me on scopes for BE

For decades I have shot my S&W Model 41 with a 1" Ultra Dot. Last year I started shooting a steel plate match using a Ruger Mk IV Tactical with a Burris Fast Fire II and a Volquartsen trigger kit in it. When using the model 41 I shoot with an occluder over my left eye. When using the Ruger ...

Re: School me on scopes for BE

I have used 1" Ultradot tubes for literally decades with complete satisfaction. Honesty demands that I say my highest rated card has been NRA expert and these days I struggle to meet that standard. However, I've found that, lately, at least, I've been shooting a Burris FastFire III better than ...

Re: Gehmann Trap Reviews?

I am happy with mine after using it for a decade or more. However, if I change targets IMMEDIATELY after shooting a string, there is a small amount of sweet smelling dust that I presume is lead dust. Therefore, I simply wait a minute or so after my last shot before changing the target. Dennis, aka D...

RWS R10 Pellet Pricing

Still trying to help a friend's widow dispose of excess items. This time it's about 15 tins of RWS R10 pellets. I THINK they are all tins of 500, but I'm not sure of their size and weight. What is a fair asking price for these?

TIA,

Re: Miracle of 3-d printing, legal or not legal

8.4.1.3 Sights I would argue that the hole on the front sight is light enhancing, there for, not legal. Hope this helps. I think the phrase "light enhancing" probably refers to some kind of fiber optic component that gathers light and therefore I believe that this "tunnel" MIGHT...

If you really can't decide, the one with the youngest cylinders. If you don't shoot matches where that would make a difference, grab the one your friend preferred to use; it will be the best remembrance. Failing all else, go for the prettiest colors. Good advice, William. Will see which one he like...

I didn't know there was more than one kind. It's a single shot PCP air pistol. That's all I can say for now. Will have to look at it in person and get more data.
