18mm or 22mm front sight?

Folks, I'm looking to purchase an adjustable aperature (inner/outer) - Anschutz has the 18mm... if you were looking to shoot 3P would the the benefit of the 22mm system be worth new eagle eye/level? (I'm making the assumption that Anschutz is stricky 18mm)... your thoughts?

1913 / Percise Stock.... getting to know you?

Folks, anyone shooting at 1907-13 and the percise stock... mine came today and I'm in awe. Like to understand steps you used for a brand new rifle - cleaning, focus areas, torque settings... did you keep the hard case or store for future use. Should be fun... Michigan in the winter - lots of time.. ...

I have an inexpensive Kowa optics are fine... wich I had more eye relief... don't be as concerned for zoom look for a model with extended eye releif -- in my prone Ican tilt my head -- don't need a perfect head position and can still see the targets... good luck.

Good discussion -- reflecting what's been posted what about: 1) the use of an "eagle eye" (I'm currently using a .3) and a 4.2 (seems HUGE for this level) 2) color - I recently switch to the Anschutz inserts and for fun purchased some "yellow" inserts -- not popular with the bett...

My BKL rings failed on my prone rifle - suggestions?

I had recently purchased a set of BKL offset rings (Al) and the layout was PERFECT for my 1907... tonight when I was switching from irons to scope the rear ring "stripped" -- rats. I had be experimenting with different scopes and swapping iron/scopes every session - perhaps 30 duty cycles ...

From the guy that asked the original question -- thank you! Great discussion, I know I benefitted from the various opinions... almost like "on line coaching". I did move closer and I can get a much larger field of view at the front post -- paralax (sp) is a concern as some of my shots ende...

First outdoor match (50/100 yrds) prone... firsrt time. :)

Folks to all those that have contributed -- Thanks... I had a riot shooting outdoors today (a little cloud, a little rain - at time a lot of ran, and some sun) we shot 3 matches 160 shots for score buy I must have shot 100 sighters -- as it was my first time out from indoor at 50 feet. But I had adj...

Great discussion -- I hope I can put it all into play as I have my first 50/100m match on Saturday and I've never fired outdoors... and of course the range was closed this evening so I didn't get a change to sense check the new arrangement. The exit pupil discussion was interesting -- but I'll look ...

a good rule of thumb for outdoor shooting is that your apperature will be between .9mm and 1.2-1.3mm depending on light and your eyes. the front sight tube (18mm) should take up about 1/3-1/5 of the sight picture. thats with a standard barrel. matt Wow -- if I understand correctly, I should see a f...

Prone -- distance from the "eye" to the rear apper

In the prone position, my coach was using 4" as the standard distance from the eye to the rear apperature... but looking at the photos from the recent world championship the distance appears much closer... perhaps 2"... for the coaches in the group how much distance is appropriate as I'm a...

Dave, your advice makes sense - the 1907 barrel/actin is is great shape, just looking for options on stocks - most are out still in Ohio. Shopping is fun -- but if a Percise stock is ~$1600, perhaps I should keep the 1907 swap the "non hook" butt plate our for a "hooked butt plate) an...

SB Prone Rifle Recomendations -- LH?

Folks, I'm switching out of 3P and looking to shoot only SB prone and I'm looking for options/suggestions. I currently have a newer 1907L that I could use the action/barrel or I could sell as a unit and purchase a completley new rifle stock (but it needs to be LH)... any thoughts?

Creeedmoor sports here in the US (Oceanside CA) has a "dedicated" prone model jacket -- I recently purchased one out of stock and should be here this week -- I'll post back when received. Like you - comfort and support were important - but not at the 3P level... best.

Has anyone purchased a SB shooting jacket lately?

Looking for suggestions/opinions on my first jacket -- only SB, mostly prone -- and my budget is $500 (that is the amount a hardback Creedmore jacket will cost) -- I was looking for options from the this group on a more traditional jacket that might be in a similar price range). Thanks for the suppo...
