Re: Setting up an air sports club, what would people like to
While the formal 10 meter air gun shooting is dead with adults I don't know that it is so much dead, but that there is no opportunity to compete. There are no formal shooting venues. I would love to compete in real matches other than postal matches. But there just aren't any near by. I am no spring...

Re: 10m air pistol velocity
I just chronigraphed my Hammerli today. It was very close to what the book said. It measured between 482 and 486 fps.

Air pistol history and more
I have scoured the web and other resources to learn everything about precision air pistol and air gunning in general. I have found a plethora of resources on how to improve scores, less about the qualities of what makes a good competitive gun, and nearly nothing on the history of precision air gunni...

Re: Air gun shooter survey
I completed the survey. A couple of the questions didn't have correct answer options. The first was where I compete. I am a member of the 10M Pistol Competition League on Facebook which is like a Postal Competition. There are no clubs or local competitions in San Antonio to my knowledge for 10M airg...

Re: 10m air pistol velocity
Basically, you are looking for a CONSISTENT velocity fast enough to make nice clean holes in the target and not effect the aim point as it travels thru the barrel. This is typically around 500fps as I mentioned earlier. Take the IZH-46. The original version had a muzzle velocity of around 470 fps. T...

Re: 10m air pistol velocity
Velocity is typically around 500fps. Sometimes a little more or less. My Hammerli says it shoots near 480fps. Other manufacturers specify other velocities but centering around 500fps.

Re: Setting up an air sports club, what would people like to
I am in San Antonio and I would love to see a relatively near by range. I would like to see something family friendly like a bowling alley environment but with the Olympic air disciplines. Initially I would stay away from the high price accessories like the electronic scoring and upgrade as particip...

Re: Inside a Steyr LP1-P Aluminum CO2 Cylinder @ 25 years..(
DFWdude, O-rings can be obtained in inexpensive sets at Harbor Freight tools. I used one of these sets to replace the o-ring on my Hammerli fill adaptor. They carry both metric and SAE. Also, corrosion won't cause a loss of mass in the cylinders. If anything it will cause an increase in mass as the ...

Re: Quiet quality pellet trap in US
Gammo makes several traps. This is a cone style trap built with 3mm steel. It is an extremely heavy duty. Target-Air makes two sizes of this trap. One is a 14cm version. I suspect this is the standard size for rifle targets. The one I ordered is the 17cm version which is the proper size for the krug...

Re: Inside a Steyr LP1-P Aluminum CO2 Cylinder @ 25 years..(
A CO2 cylinder is only experiencing about 1000 psi where Compressed air PCP cylinders often experience more than 3000psi. Furthermore, there is often moisture condensed in the cylinders that use air. this can have corrosive effects. That being said the anodizing on the inside of the cylinders does p...

Re: Quiet quality pellet trap in US
Thank everyone for all of your suggestions. Target-Air finally got back with me and I have placed my order. In the mean time, I had built a frame to hold the slightly smaller targets for my old trap. I had purchased a trap locally that I had intended to use but it became dented with my standard 480f...

Re: Quiet quality pellet trap in US
I prefer a standard trap that is easy to harvest the lead pellets from rather than using the putty. I have an old Crossman trap that I had been using with my own printed targets. I was able to really quiet the Grossman trap by glueing rubber sanding blocks to the back. Unfortunately, I can't find th...

Quiet quality pellet trap in US
I am trying to find a quiet quality pellet trap that accepts the 17cm ISSF targets here in the US. From the images I have seen, the Gehmann traps will take the targets, but be rather loud. They also look like they are made from rather thin sheet metal with the exception of the plate absorber inside....

Re: 10m AP shooting in LA?
I am glad California has made some exceptions to their restrictions. It is still a very unfriendly state for gun enthusiasts. As I said in my post my information was very dated and I was still aware that it remains a very unfriendly state to shooting enthusiasts. That is why I won't live there. Best...

Re: 10m AP shooting in LA?
I doubt that you will find any. For all intensive purposes, guns are illegal in California, especially delicate guns like precision Olympic guns. From what I remember when I did the research about 15 years ago one requirement was they required guns to be able to withstand drops from 20 feet onto con...

Re: 1822 US flag (23 star) at 2016 ISSF World Cup in Bangkok
Unfortunately, I am horrible with names and faces. I once had a nice conversation with John Rittter and had no idea who he was. I was just commenting about the anomaly in the flag used to represent the USA for the medalists. The only reason I mentioned Will Brown was that he was the one who earned t...

1822 US flag (23 star) at 2016 ISSF World Cup in Bangkok Why
I was watching some ISSF videos on YouTube. I noticed that when Will Brown earned silver in the 2016 ISSF World Cup in Bangkok (THAI) in the 10M AP Men's Final that the US flag raised had only 23 stars. This flag hasn't been used as the official US flag since 1822. I was wondering why? Was this in h...

Re: USA Shooting Statement on ISSF Changes
One thing that can make the shooting sports stick around would be to make them more popular. As individuals, we can recruit our friends into the sports. We might be able to suggest that equipment manufacturers and dealers engage in alternative marketing and perhaps open precision shooting venues whe...
