Setting Anschutz sight scales

Hi, I've got a couple of older Anschutz sights I use (one for 60/75 ft and one for 50yd/metre). Both have what look like scales on the horizontal and vertical. On my fullbore sights, I can move the scale so that once I've established a zero I can center it. However both of these sights appear to hav...

Barrel is shooting very well, so yes giving serious though to a Starik tuner. Then, of course more ammo selection!

Yes, too much work! I’ve just put on a 5071/1 trigger (a beauty!).

how does one update a wing bolt (Anschutz 1413 vintage)

Hi, I've got a SuperMatch 1413 and I've read in this forum that the newer bolts have a faster lock time. What, exactly, does it take to update the older wing bolts. Is it replacing the bolt? Is it removing the safety and changing firing pin? Rifle has the original heavy barrel and is capable of 15mm...

Re: ISU 300m sights?

I thought that I might see smallbore sights.. I just wondered how robust they would be in holding up to .308 recoil.

They are an obvious choice.

cheers,

ISU 300m sights?

Anyone know what sights were used for ISU 300m shooting?

I regularly shoot 300y/300m these days with my .308 match rifle and find my Warner sights (1/4 min) too coarse for the ISU target (it works, it's just not happy).

Re: Positioning of shooting glasses?

This is actually getting interesting.. Saw a reference to the number of cones in the eye today (tetrachromacy) in this article (also explains - perhaps - why I had no difficulty discerning the dress was gold and white): https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/25-people-have-4th-cone-see-colors-p-prof-diana-d...

Re: ACE lenses - for Champion Olympic shooting glasses

Exactly what Tim said. I think the colored filters in the iris work fine in smallbore, but in fullbore - with the recoil of a .308 - it's a lot easier to muck up the iris and have it cease to function properly or knock the lens out of alignment (had that happen with a polarizing filter in the iris a...

ACE lenses - for Champion Olympic shooting glasses

So, I'm looking at the various lenses available for my Champion Olympics. But I cannot find any information on what frequencies of the light spectrum they block. I've got a yellow and a grey and was looking at the amethyst (purple) lenses. Apparently because of the rare metals used, they are stupid ...

Re: How to buy a Bleiker in the US

You might consider one of our System Gemini prone rifles. We have them for prone and full bore and shooters have one Olympic medals with them (2012 Games). Quite a bit less than the Bleiker stock and will fit Bleiker and Anschutz actions. I use one in Fullbore and distribute them here in the US. che...

I'm actually just shooting prone these days, hovering around 592/593. Not sure how much (if any improvement) I'll see from a bloop tube but it has occurred to me that it would be desirable if my sight radius matched that of my fullbore rifle (currently about 33.5"). I don't find it particularly...

Any recommendations on specific brands/makes?

I have a 1970 SuperMatch 54 with the original barrel. Don't know what will fit it - or fit it best.

Sadly, I'm a Canadian living in the States. So I have to travel to compete in Canadian events to qualify (though they may permit a good performance in an American event as a qualification).

thanks much for all the responses..

entering to compete at Fort Benning in WC event

What are the requirements to enter to compete in 50m prone at Ft. Benning? It's not clear to me whether one has to be sponsored by one's national association or anyone can participate? It seems like one has to be sponsored by an ISSF Member Federation (in my case, Canada). Is that correct? I'm a dec...

Tim,

it looks like doable and at $300, it turns out to be quite a bit cheaper than the Aktiv buttplate.

Thanks for all the input..

Aktiv vs. standard buttplate vs. Anschutz 4765-U4

I use the standard buttplate on my fullbore rifle (.308). It does indeed flatten during recoil. However, the set screw only allows it to flatten so much and so it still works (when adjusted properly). I think I'll sadly go with the Anschutz 4765-U4 as pricing out the Aktiv with Robert came to over $...

Yep.. I'm familiar with that rule as I've had to be careful in the NRA for my fullbore matches (I use a standard Gemini buttplate for my Palma guns) and have had competitors complain about it (25mm rule).

I'll give the Aktiv a try.

I take the recommendations are stronger for the Aktiv buttplate than for the standard buttplate?

Need to replace my Supermatch 54 buttplate

Hello all, Returning to smallbore prone after quite a few years off. I'm still shooting in the low 590s (592-594) and think that I could probably get a wee improvement by changing out my free rifle buttplate for a more modern design. Any suggestions for a buttplate (for prone only) that will bolt on...
