Re: Sports Drinks

As for these sport drinks I cannot use them being a diabetic---too much sugar---I wish there was something else as I lose essential minerals through perspiring (sweating) and do suffer cramps in the legs due to this loss. There is certainly at least one sugar free sports drink. The company I work f...

I guess I'm like most of the others on here. I suspect I've shot in the order or 40-50 000 pellets through mine and I've never had a fault <touches wood>. I shoot felt pellets through every 1 or 2 000 rounds and wipe the gun after every outing. One thing to note is the felt pellets won't remove the ...

P.S. If you do not FULLY recover from the injury to your right eye, I would seriously consider another sport. Your vision, especially if it is limited to one eye, is much too valuable to put in peril especially in a high risk activity like shooting. Just a thought. No disrespect but shooting is not...

Yep the rear sight can be opened up and the notch can be made deeper, and both moved in the opposite direction.

If only it were that simple. Adjustment backwards or forwards is purely a personal thing. In theory moving the sight back reduces the amount of movement you see. This encourages early shot release rather than holding for too long. That's my understanding at least, but I have mine furthest forward si...

Since I shoot in the UK, we have to use air so the recoil issues don't affect us. I seem to shoot pretty consistently all strings and sometimes I even shoot worse scores in the 150 strings. In the 10s string I normally wait until about 4 secs for the first shot and just spread the others out dependi...

I don't think I breathe during the 20 or 10 second strings but I don't know for sure - I'll have to check. One thing I do struggle with is whether to raise the pistol directly into the aim in the 20s or raise above it and then lower. I know I have done both and I'm not really sure which works best. ...

Shooting in/near Philadelphia ?

I'm off to Philadelphia next week with work and I'm just wondering if there's any shooting clubs/ranges in my locality (Wayne) - on the off chance that I have a bit of spare time ?

Thanks in advance,

Re: free pistol ammunition

Does anyone know how, in what way, the chamber and pin can be damaged? As I see it, the increase in chamber pressure for .22LR high velocity is almost negligible. The pin strikes and is then passive, so how can it be affected when the bolt or falling block is restraining the cartridge? I would sugg...

Like Scott I dry fire mine with no problems. I use one of the dummy rounds supplied to initially 'fire' the gun. Thereafter the trigger can be reset and dry fired as much as you want, just keep the breech closed.

RobStubbs Haven't possibility: Some dry fire? Just a little... 25-30 minutes every other day. That has crossed my mind but I'm currently dry firing 2-3 times a week with the AP and I'm not sure I'd benefit swapping to dry firing with the FP when I would get to shoot it so infrequently and I don't w...

I don't want to affirm,... but when I trained eight months with national team, one fellow said to me that it's better to shot/train more FP than AP. FP improves thin senses. And everything he did: he trained FP,... when he has AP match, he has just taken AP a day before match and shoted some. (his ...

Mike, If you hunt around on the NSRA site, you should be able to find a listing of local clubs but it may be hard to find. Other contacts are your local guns shops (yellow pages should be useful), or check out http://www.clstsa.org/ which is the County of Lancaster Shooting Association - which if no...

By my reconing I should be shooting 20 or even 30 points higher scores in free than I do then ;) Mine are AP - 570 ~ 555 FP about 510 ~ 500 I should point out that I hardly shoot my free pistol (only about once a month) , whereas I shoot AP 3 or 4 times a week. So I guess that probably explains the ...

I think a lot of shooters now have a roughly 50:50 split and that is personally where I'd start. That is how I have my trigger set and IMO that is a good place to start for newbies. Having a deffinate 250g difference between 1st and second gives a very easy to find second stage and you can then get ...

We actually use ours at my club as visitors tins. Newbies get 50 pellets included in their fee. You'd be suprised how many tins go walkabouts as I shoot something like 20 or 30 tins of pellets each year and we still seem to run out.

I assume you mean weights associated with the barrel ? The reason people use them (and others don't) is purely a personal thing. Some people prefer a front heavy gun whereas others like a more 'balanced' gun. There is no one best method, it's down to what suits the shooter. Try different weights and...

I don't find that newbies have any problems at all aiming below the black. I always point out that you can't see black sights on a black background very well. I know that isn't strickly true as I centre aim for rapid and sport pistol, but it easily gets the message home. You are right though in that...

To me one of the things about the sub six hold is that it's what feels comfortable for you visually - i.e. the amount of light perceived 'feels' correct. The other good aspect is that because you are in an open area, you shouldn't be over critical and try for a perfect sight picture. Aiming right on...
